Hello. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. With over seven years of experience working with juvenile delinquents and over three years in psychiatric emergency services, my passion is helping young adults and families reduce negative self-talk, learn self-compassion, and set goals to improve their relationships and overall quality of life.
In the first session, I will focus on connecting with the client and understanding how to proceed. Following introductions, we can briefly discuss the client's history, including childhood, education, relationships, and living situation.
I am passionate about helping people and have years of experience and the skills needed to provide the services clients require.
In terms of how it's used in practice, a therapist specializing in cognitive behavior treatment will work with their clients to identify negative thought patterns and behaviors and help them develop strategies to change them. These strategies may include mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, and cognitive restructuring, which involves replacing negative thoughts with more positive ones. I may assign homework between sessions, such as journaling or practicing relaxation exercises. I provided psychoeducation to psychiatric emergency patients at an ER for over three years. During this period, I had the opportunity to offer psychoeducation to patients who were suited for cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
I am happy to share that I have been practicing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for over two years now. It has been a wonderful journey and I feel confident in my skills to help others through this approach.
