Welcome! I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. I received my Masters from Grand Valley State University and have been practicing for 11 years. I help adults of all ages struggling with life transitions and anxiety work through complicated feelings to become the best version of themselves. I see myself as a coach and mentor in walking alongside my clients, offering feedback and support through challenging situations.
In our first session together, we'll start with getting to know each other. This will include sharing the challenges you're facing, and goals you'd like to work on. This allows us to work together to create a personalized plan to work through in future sessions. In our first session, I also try to allow time for you to ask me any questions that you might have.
In the past 11 years as a provider, I've established the tools to assist my clients in identifying their own strengths and tapping into them. In helping clients identify and grow in areas of existing strength, they are then able to take productive steps towards their goals.
I have been using CBT with dozens of clients during since beginning my own practice in 2020. In using CBT with clients, I explore with clients alternate ways of thinking, and how this could influence their feelings and behavioral responses. Many clients report feeling more in control of their emotions and behaviors as a result of this process, and are able to make some significant changes in their lives as a result.
I became familiar with Solution Focused Treatment when I began working in a crisis setting in 2013. Through this process, I help clients grow and develop the tools they already have in order to navigate painful situations. In identifying these tools, many clients are able to see beyond feeling stuck in a problem or crisis, and able to start seeing the steps they can take to move forward towards a desirable future.
I began exploring mindfulness tools while working in a crisis setting starting in 2013. Using various grounding tools, such as deep breathing, visualization, and meditation, clients can feel equipped with the tools needed to manage stress, anxiety, and other overwhelming emotions.
As a practicing Christian, I know how important faith can be when navigating challenges in life. Over the past 3 years, I have had dozens of clients request that therapy include a Christian perspective. While using other proven clinical approaches, I have joined with Christian clients in reminding them of Biblical applications and the tenets of Christian faith that can be helpful in their situations.
