I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing for seven years in a nationally recognized outpatient healthcare clinic. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in psychology at Chapman University, I decided to change careers and pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Working for the clinic has provided an extraordinary learning environment and allowed me to benefit from collaboration with amazing clinicians who share my passion to help others.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will spend some time getting to know each other and explore the reasons why you are seeking therapy at this time. This will help create the stepping stones for a plan forward to help you reach your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very fortunate to have experience with a diverse population not only clinically, but culturally and ethnically. My working environment has provided knowledge and insight into brain health, neurology, and psychiatric care which helps me to integrate biology, psychology, and personality. I use a whole person approach centered on the relationship between spirituality, culture, physical health, and mental well-being and work to provide a non-judgmental, safe environment. I view the therapy process as a sacred transaction and feel privileged to participate in the healing and growth of others who share with me their innermost hurts, problems, and questions about life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In CBT, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. In sessions, clients learn to recognize and reframe distorted thinking, engage in behavioral experiments to test beliefs, and practice new coping skills. Regular assessments track progress, empowering clients to develop effective strategies for managing challenges and promoting lasting positive change in their lives.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. In EMDR sessions, therapists guide clients to recall distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, often through eye movements. This process allows the brain to reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and enabling clients to develop more adaptive coping mechanisms. Through phases of assessment, desensitization, installation of positive beliefs, and closure, EMDR therapists facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic memories, fostering emotional healing and resilience. I have worked with a diverse range of clients to address both big 'T' and little 't' traumas and am trained through EMDR Professional Training.

Couples Counseling

In couples counseling, I work with romantic partners to improve their relationship dynamics and communication. Through a collaborative process, I help couples explore and understand their individual needs, expectations, and concerns. Sessions often focus on developing effective communication skills, resolving conflicts, and fostering intimacy. I work to provide a supportive space for partners to work together, strengthen their connection, and build a healthier and more fulfilling relationship. I may use various therapeutic techniques and interventions tailored to the specific needs of the couple to promote understanding and facilitate positive change.

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy involves integrating various therapeutic approaches and techniques based on the individual needs of the client. As a clinician, I draw from different theoretical frameworks, such as cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, or behavioral approaches, to create a customized and flexible treatment plan. This approach allows me to tailor interventions to the unique circumstances of each client, optimizing the effectiveness of therapy by combining elements from different schools of thought. I enjoy working with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds and use a versatile and personalized approach to address a wide range of mental health issues.

Family Therapy

In family therapy, I work with entire families to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships. By exploring family dynamics and patterns of interaction, I work to help members understand each other's perspectives and identify constructive ways to address issues. Family therapy may involve sessions with the entire family or specific subsets, focusing on enhancing cooperation and fostering a supportive environment. Through collaborative efforts, the aim is to promote positive changes in familial interactions, address systemic issues, and improve overall family functioning.
