I completed my doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a specialization in health psychology. I have 15 years of experience working with diverse individuals in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health agencies, psychiatric hospitals, assisted living facilities, and jails/prisons. I enjoy helping adults and older adults work through depression, anxiety, serious mental illness, life transitions, and age-related concerns, ensuring they receive the support they need to lead a meaningful life at any age. My goal is to help you cultivate hope and resilience, discover new strengths, find your purpose, and achieve your goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

With me, you’ll get a compassionate, practical and direct approach to meet you where you're at and help you get unstuck. Together, we will identify the problem, explore factors in your life that may have contributed to the problem, and find workable solutions so you can start feeling better, faster. My goal is to help heal your emotional pain as you find clarity, develop self-acceptance, discover new strengths and abilities, and achieve your goals. After a few sessions with me, you will be equipped with practical new tools so you feel more confident in your ability to successfully face life's challenges.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Life is hard. I know from personal experience that it is difficult to pull yourself out of negative thought patterns or find the motivation to work on your emotional or physical health. My passion lies in helping adults and older adults overcome depression, work through grief and anxiety, and successfully manage serious mental illnesses, such as psychotic disorders and bipolar disorder. A quote by Nido Qubein is a beautiful representation of what I believe: "Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start." You have the power within you to change your life, and I look forward to being the one to take that journey with you. While I understand that trust takes time, I believe therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore life experiences, so that together we can move past your obstacles and celebrate your triumphs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Together we will identify your problem and explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I will help you identify negative thoughts that are contributing to distressing emotions and teach you how to develop alternative perspectives and more balanced thoughts, which will ultimately have a positive impact on mood and behavior.

Motivational Interviewing

We have all struggled at times with motivation to make changes in our lives, even when we know that change may have a positive impact. I will help you explore the ambivalence, avoidance, and doubts that get in the way of making healthy changes as we uncover your internal motivations and values that will help you achieve your goals.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I will help you make changes in your life by focusing on solutions, rather than just problems. While we may explore your problems and what contributed to them, you came to therapy because you need practical skills to help you now in the present moment. Let's work together to set achievable goals that will make your future brighter and more meaningful.

Supportive

A huge part of what makes therapy work is the human connection between you and your therapist. My goal is to make therapy a safe space where you feel heard, supported, and understood. It is a judgment-free zone where trust is established so you can find clarity, face life's challenges, learn new skills, and discover solutions that work for you.
