Hello, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) based in Tennessee. I received my Masters from the University of Memphis and have been practicing for 6 years. I provide individual and group psychotherapy to a broad range of clients. I have been based full-time in a hospital-setting as well as private tele-health services. My services range from brief solution based to more long-term care for serious mental health challenges. I incorporate evidenced-based techniques with humor, psycho education, compassion and when applicable spiritual/Christian beliefs. I was a licensed professional school counselor with a prek to 12th grade endorsement for ten years in the State of Tennessee. In addition to working with adults I also continue to enjoy working with children 12 years through late teens.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am an active listener, respectful and empathetic to my clients needs. I love to use humor to lighten difficult circumstances. I enjoy exploring problems, issues, situations and encouraging the client to identify supportive resources and developing plan of actions. I use clinical homework also as a way to encourage client to create a toolbox of strategies to use after our sessions have ended.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is used in my practice daily as a way to encourage my patients/clients to acknowledge the impact their thoughts, feelings and behaviors impacting their quality of life. I use CBT treatment with most cases specifically depression, anxiety, marital discord, mild personality disorders and bipolar disorder. This is a goal-oriented technique with a range of techniques which I educate the client based on their specific stressors and/or mental health conditions. Also, utilize when working with trauma, grief and sexual trauma victims.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

I am a certified CBT-I provider that utilizes this technique to assists clients/patients who are experiencing insomnia. This is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) techniques to teach skills to improve sleep by developing a routine sleep schedule, teach calming techniques and identify unintentional barriers to a healthy sleep routine.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Service I provide to clients/patients who present with situations or stressors that may be addressed within approximately 2 to 6 sessions. Evidence-based treatment that allows me to assist client/patient in clarifying their perceived issues, problem and crisis. Client/patient is supported as possible solutions are identified, resources and timelines. Also incorporate motivational interviewing (MI) and supportive therapy or client-centered therapy in support of the clients efforts.

Trauma-Focused CBT

As a former Military Sexual Trauma Care Coordinator for the VAMC, utilize a cognitive based treatment to treat victims of childhood, adult and military sexual trauma. Primarily used to treat PTSD, Trauma Stressor Related Disorder, Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and Acute Stressor. As a U.S. Army disabled combat veteran myself I have a special interest in supporting the military community.

Interpersonal

I am certified via the VAMC in Interpersonal Psychotherapy for depression (IPT-D). I use this psychotherapy technique to treat clients/patients diagnosed with depression. Primary target areas include grief, role transition, interspersonal skill deficits, and role dispute. Most treated disorders include depressive disorder, dysthymia, adjustment disorder with depressed mood and major depressive disorder.
