Hi. My name is Amanda Jo! I'm honored you've taken the opportunity to read a little bit about me in order to determine if we might be a good fit to walk a part of life's journey together! I have over ten years of experience working in the field of mental health. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Saint Leo University and obtained my Masters in Social Work from Indiana University. I served in the United States Army and am acutely aware of the mental health and family issues specifically related to deployments as well as pre and post service. I have experience and knowledge related to birth-mothers and adoption. Furthermore, I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, middle aged and 'antiqued' populations who are struggling to manage stress, anxiety, depression, grief, mood disorders, relationship conflict and/or unresolved trauma. Life is a beautiful, complex journey that requires community to navigate. I'd be honored to be a part of your circle!
In our first session together, I will gather information about you that will help me create a tailored, yet flexible, plan for us to collaboratively work through during upcoming appointments. The first session is also an opportunity for you to determine if I am a good 'fit' for you!
I routinely utilize a plethora of evidence based treatment modalities in order to meet individualized needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) as well as Integrative and Holistic approaches that focus on mind, body and spirit are a few of the tools in my toolbox!
I approach the therapeutic environment in the most graceful manner possible. Engaging in therapy can often times be scary so I do my absolute best to create a supportive and comfortable space for everyone! I truly enjoy working with all populations but feel especially privileged working with our military and veteran service men and women!
