Hi, I’m Julisa. I am a masters level Licensed Professional Counselor, practicing remotely in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. As a Philadelphia native and person of color, I am driven by my desire to provide healthy representation of breaking generational trauma. I aim to get rid of stigmas related to seeking professional help. I am passionate about using my 11 years of experience to help clients feel genuinely seen, without judgement. I work with adult individuals and couples on various issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bi-polar disorders, relationship concerns, body positivity, LGBTQIA+ concerns, women's issues, and life transitions.
A typical session involves encouraging you to be present with yourself, even through discomforts. We will explore what experiences contribute to how you interpret yourself, life circumstances and ability to make the changes or obtain healing you envision. Although these are common experiences for first sessions with me, everyone is different, so we will work together at a pace that makes sense to each person’s unique details.
My greatest strengths are my empathy and adaptability to meet people where they are. I work with intention to create a safe space (virtually) where people feel empowered to be their authentic selves and courageous enough to be open about the obstacles they are trying to overcome.
I use a trauma-informed lens and holistic strength based approach to understand each person as the expert in their own life. I help them to recognize the skills they already have, how they present unique to their circumstances and ways to improve upon their skills to create a sense of confident self-management in every important area of their daily life. People that work with me can expect to leave sessions feeling genuinely seen, without judgement and knowing they are appreciated for showing up to heal themselves to the best of their abilities. I will do my best to ensure people can take a wealth of knowledge and adaptable healthy skill sets with them, to thrive in life outside of therapy.
