LICSW, 13 years of experience
New to Grow
I provide an open-minded, affirming and eclectic approach that combines elements from CBT, DBT, expressive and narrative therapies. I am here to help you identify ways to align your life with your values, heal, and simply increase joy. I offer a combination of strong clinical assessment, awkward humor, and a healthy balance of both optimism and realism. I am your person if you are questioning possible neurodivergence, gender, relationship challenges or healing from past trauma.
We will begin our time together with simple conversation, clarifying what your vision for wellness is, and what is getting in the way. We will move at your pace. This is your journey. I will provide guidance, navigation and rerouting as necessary.
I have had 13 years working with all ages, individuals and families addressing the impact of trauma on functioning and relationships through traditional therapy, expressive art groups, and community-based work in Southern Massachusetts. I have specialized training and experience in counseling autistic people of all ages, including late-diagnosed adults. I am also educated in the unique needs of adoption-based trauma, as well as supporting gender and sexuality challenges. I also employ a culturally sensitive and accepting, sex positive, kink aware, poly friendly, approach to all adult couples' work.
Clients who have found the most significant success in their partnership with me are those who welcome a little bit of homework. I assign small tasks no more than 10 mins between sessions, based on what we are working on that week. I work well with those who live with neurodivergence, adoption trauma, complicated grief, abuse, neglect and/or systemic oppression.
I use traditional CBT to help identify the connection between thoughts, actions and experiences and strategize ways to improve and relieve patterns that have been holding people back. For people who have experienced trauma, I combine this approach with a gentle trauma focus to increase feelings of safety.
I use narrative therapy to help people envision their lives from a place of growth, hope and courage. This treatment method is based on the idea that people create narratives to make sense of their lives, and that these narratives can influence their wellbeing.
I use DBT to increase the coping skills of people who are living through major challenges in their daily lives, to increase resilience and healing.
I employ a gender affirming approach to therapy to support gender expansive individuals in exploring the nuanced and complex experience of gender exploration and transition.
Above all I employ an integrative approach to therapy, tying together multiple treatment modalities based on the unique individual needs of each patient.
