Welcome! I am a Bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified addiction counselor with over 20 years of experience. This is my second career and my passion. I have the honor, and privilege, of providing mental health services to young adults, and adults and provide counseling for a wide range of concerns including, anxiety, depression, substance misuse, processing addictions, anger, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. My counseling style focuses primarily on empowering clients to lead better lives, and in so doing, treat them with respect and dignity in a safe, supportive, encouraging, and warm space. My role as a therapist is to guide, advocate, advise, and educate those in need as they find their voices and healthier lifestyles, meeting them where they are at – believing that clients are the experts of their lives. I strive to establish rapport through understanding, honesty, and positive regard toward the individual while applying person-centered, person-in-environment theoretical orientations, and motivational interviewing. I use an integrated approach, based on the client’s needs through the course of therapy, established on client-therapist collaborative treatment plan development. This plan might integrate a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, meditation skills, dialectical behavioral therapy, and acceptance commitment therapy, grounded on the client’s preferences and needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with people, who are going through similar issues as yours for the past 20 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress. You are here, you have taken the first courageous step on the path to building a healthier, responsible, joyful life. I believe I could help you to succeed in this journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 20 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT work and assignments to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other and change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I've been using SFB for the past 8 years as I find it to be effective with my clients as they focus on identifying and building upon existing strengths and resources to create solutions for their challenges, rather than dwelling on the problem itself. We'll achieve this by asking targeted questions that will encourage you to envision a desired future state and identify small, achievable steps to move towards it, ultimately leading to positive outcomes by empowering you to take ownership of the change process.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I believe that mindfulness, and practices that support it, are a superpower, and have been personally practicing most of my life. Mindfulness can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Addictive behaviors, and Physical problems. Will use Mindfulness practices to help you develop awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. This will help you to manage your mental health and well-being by helping you to, focus and stay grounded on the present, avoid getting caught up in past negative experiences or future worries, and help you approach your thoughts and feelings with a clear, calm, and non-judgmental state of mind.

Motivational Interviewing

I use MI to support clients' self-efficacy by reinforcing their power to make the changes they want. This therapy helps me to guide you through the behavior change process, recognizing the positive changes your will be making, and offering encouragement along the way
