Hello, My Name is Octavia Trone, LMSW. I graduated with my master's in social work degree from Wayne state university in 1997. I am a compassionate, empathetic social worker and mental health therapist. My target population are adults of all ages (young, middle aged and elderly), and adults who experience depression, and bipolar diagnosis. I was in the United States Air Force as a Mental Health therapist who counseled active-duty soldiers and their families who were diagnosed with depression, and PTSD. I helped active-duty soldiers, and their families manage life challenges and daily stressors of military life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is an intake session where consumers can discuss their problems, demographic information, past or present mental health counseling, signs and symptoms of the mental health diagnosis, hobbies, employment, medical diagnosis, medications. The first mental health session is a getting to know session where goals can be formed by the client. The first session will also discuss the expectations that clients have re: therapy and client's definition of mental health counseling.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Empathy, active listening, being nonjudgmental and creating a comfortable environment where clients want to talk and want to attend counseling.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

I use Compassion focused therapy for people who experience and struggle with shame, low self-esteem, self-criticism and criticism received by others and depression.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy when consumers are suicidal to discuss problem solving, triggers that cause suicidal ideations, positive supports, reasons to live, developing a safety plan

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use person centered therapy when helping consumers with finding self-discovery. Person centered planning helps consumers understand themselves and for the consumer to participate and lead the direction of the therapy session.
