New to Grow
Hello all! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received my Masters degree from Michigan State University and have been practicing for over 10 years. I have many diverse life experiences and have worked with clients from birth to end of life care. I enjoy helping adults create a vision of a life worth living and helping them take the steps to achieve their goals. As a human, I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family. **Note that if you do not see an appointment time that works for you, schedule in any available slot and we can message each other to adjust in order to accommodate your schedule.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and you will provide me with information about your history. You can also fill me in on your top priorities. This will assist me in getting to know you, and help us develop goals for future visits. I always say that finding a good therapist is like dating- you may have to go on a few dates before you find, "the one." My goal is to help you feel comfortable with me as "the one."
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Having worked with such a wide range clientele over the years, I am confident I can assist with incorporating the tools for change. I have a warm and casual approach, however, I am also fairly straight forward, so you won't leave a session without an action plan or feeling that your time was not well spent. My goal is to help educate, encourage, and support clients so that growth is attainable.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I love to work with adults of all ages, however, young adults, teachers, and athletes are able to especially benefit from my skill set. Life transitions are hard, but I am here to help! My clients are eager to learn coping skills, goal development and setting boundaries. This can help alleviate obstacles and stress that come from every day life circumstances.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use a person-centered approach to help identify thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that may get in the way of achieving your goals.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I am trained in the full DBT model and integrate various aspects of DBT into treatment as agreed upon by the therapist and client.
Psychoeducation
Knowing is the first step! My clinical experience allows me to offer information about your concerns in a way that's relatable and easy to understand.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
We are all diverse humans. I am open to working with a variety of cultures, identities, and belief systems in a client-centered approach. I also have training in implicit bias in order to help work with others' whose background, culture and beliefs may be different than my own. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, neurodiverse clients, and POC.
