Call me Dr. K! I am a licensed clinical social worker with a passion to actively participate in educating the world on trauma prevention and the prevention of gun violence. I am an advocate for the fair treatment of others and quality care for all. When I'm not providing therapy I am volunteering my time in the community or looking for opportunities to share knowledge of the impact of trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First sessions generally begin with introductions, a review of your ideas for care and learning how we can work together. During your session feel free to bring questions you may have or share past experiences in care. This will help me learn any strategies that may not have worked for you as well as strategies that did work.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Past clients have challenged me to become a well-rounded clinician. They have inspired me to find creative ways to conduct sessions. From home visits making arts & crafts with children to hearing a client share advice from a session to a family member. I strive to think outside the box for therapy bring about change. I believe my strengths as a provider is that I do not shy away from disrupting the norms.

My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I have completed an amazing 18-month training cohort including supervision by CPP trained professionals. CPP is one of my favorite approaches working with primary caregivers and their young one(s). With this treatment I explore the history of each caregiver and the their ideas about parenting. All sessions are created to provide a safe space for all members and help the family process their trauma.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an effective treatment that can be applied to a variety of challenges. For over 10 years I have used CBT to work with issues such as depression, trauma, life stressors and more. A typical CBT session explores your thoughts, feelings and actions about a particular situation.
