New to Grow
Hello, I'm Brandi Taylor, a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate their personal journeys towards healing and growth. With a background deeply rooted in the helping professions, I bring over seven years of experience working closely with diverse communities. I offer a holistic, trauma-informed approach to mental and emotional well-being, specifically designed for Black women who are navigating the complexities of high-functioning anxiety, depression, trauma and ADHD symptoms. My services are designed to help you reconnect with your body, release stored emotions, and cultivate a deeper sense of balance and peace.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, you can expect a warm, grounded space where we begin building a genuine connection. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, clarify what you hope to change or understand, and start shaping the goals we’ll work toward together. You’ll get a feel for my laid-back, honest style, including my mix of compassion, directness, and the occasional spicy word when the moment calls for it. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to understand your experiences, strengths, and needs, but I won’t push you beyond your comfort level. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer sense of how we’ll move forward, what our work together will look like, and the reassurance that you don’t have to walk this path alone.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach integrates evidence-based therapeutic techniques with holistic practices, recognizing that true healing addresses not just symptoms, but the interconnected aspects of your wellbeing. Together, we'll collaboratively set goals aimed at helping you become the most authentic version of yourself. I’m not here to give quick fixes, but to walk alongside you as a guide. Together, we’ll explore root causes, integrate holistic tools, and build on the resilience you already have to support lasting growth and meaningful healing.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
You show up, get things done, and carry the weight of everything but inside, you're exhausted. Anxiety, depression, or late diagnosed ADHD might be quietly running the show and you’re ready for support that truly gets you. I'm Brandi Taylor, a licensed clinical social worker with over 8 years of experience. I specialize in working with women who are carrying invisible emotional loads while managing careers, caregiving, and personal expectations. I support high functioning women navigating depression, anxiety, and complex trauma. My experience includes intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood and HIV trauma. Together we explore root causes, integrate mind-body healing, and move toward balance without trying to fix what was never broken.
EMDR
I use EMDR as a central trauma treatment in my work with individuals who have experienced significant distress, helping them safely process painful memories and reduce the emotional and physiological impact of trauma. My experience facilitating trauma groups, advocating for victims of crime, and supporting people through complex life stressors informs how I apply EMDR in practice. These roles have deepened my understanding of the many ways trauma shows up in people’s lives, allowing me to tailor EMDR to each client’s cultural context, safety needs, and lived experiences so the work remains both effective and empowering.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in a practical, real-life way. Think of “let’s figure out why your brain is being rude to you and what to do about it.” We look at unhelpful thought patterns, test them against reality, and swap them for ones that actually work. It’s structured but flexible, skill-based but human, and focused on helping you feel better now, not ten years from now. If you love homework assignments, this is method is definitely for you.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
My mindfulness-based work is all about slowing things down and getting out of your head without needing to “empty your mind”. We practice noticing thoughts instead of wrestling with them, learning how to respond instead of react, and finding a little more calm in the middle of real life chaos. As a certified holistic practitioner, I can also integrate breathwork and sound healing into sessions more like nervous-system resets not so woo-woo (but I love woo-woo). It’s grounded, practical, and surprisingly powerful… like giving your brain a deep exhale.
