I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has over 30 years in the mental health field working in psychiatric hospitals and private practice. I work with clients individually (ages 13-17; 18- 65+); Couples and Families who suffer from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, marriage/divorce issues, grief issues, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, domestic violence (victims) and substance use. I am passionate about what I do and truly care about each of my clients.
In my first session, I will be getting to know my client. I will discuss the reason for their visit and what they hope to accomplish in therapy. I will start to gather some background information from them so I can better understand their needs and/or goals.
As a provider, I believe my greatest strengths lie in my ability to actively listen, intuitively understand my clients' needs, and think outside the box to tailor solutions that address their unique circumstances.
I enjoy working with a variety of people with different issues in various age groups.
If you are looking for new coping skills/strategies to deal with your depression, anxiety, stress, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, DBT is the treatment for you.
I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for 25+ years. This treatment modality has helped hundreds of my clients challenge their reoccurring thoughts regarding their depression, anxiety, self-worth. CBT has helped my clients discover how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors all work together and how they have impacted their decision-making abilities, happiness and productivity. We will focus on thinking patterns that are causing distress, anxiety and turmoil in your life. We will learn how to change those thinking patterns so you can have the life you have always envisioned for yourself.
As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SI), we will address suicidal thoughts and behaviors by looking at distortions in your thinking and what maladaptive coping skills you may have been using. We will learn what triggers your suicidal thinking and behaviors and how to prevent acting on them.
I want to assure you, when you come for Couples Counseling, there is no good guy or bad guy. We all make mistakes and say things or do things we later regret. No sides will be taken. Finger Pointing is Not Constructive. Couples Counseling gives each of us an opportunity to look at ourselves in a deeper way and make the necessary changes we need to do to become the best versions of ourselves. Together, we will learn that both parties have contributed to the break-down of the relationship. We will learn how to communicate more effectively with one another using active listening skills, how to resolve conflicts by understanding the importance of compromising and how it leads to win-win situations and how to rebuild trust and intimacy.
In Grief Therapy, be assured you will be provided with a safe and supportive environment in which to talk about and process the complex emotions associated with your loss. Together, we will explore your feelings of disbelief, sadness, anger and guilt. We will also explore how to keep moving forward with our lives during this devastating time.
