I am a LPCC-S in Kentucky with over 10 years of experience that include working as a treatment director and therapist of a mental health facility. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, DMDD, ODD, PTSD and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse, and I am certified for TF-CBT and working on the trauma narrative. I have worked with all ages which includes children (6-12), adolescents (13-20), and adults.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will cover housekeeping things like confidentiality, frequency of sessions, and duration of sessions. I will then give background about myself and my life so that you feel comfortable speaking with me. Then we will gather background information on you- your family, work, and what you like to do in your free time. Then we will get into harder questions like why you are coming to therapy and what your goals are for therapy and develop a treatment plan.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I like to tell jokes and make others laugh because sometimes laughter is the best medicine but Iam also direct and will challenge you to be a better version of yourself. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, person centered and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This is my favorite therapy approach that I have utilized my whole career as it has been effective in treating depression, anger, anxiety and trauma. It has to do with challenging the way you think and correcting irrational thoughts into a more productive way of thinking that includes coping skills to help manage the way you think. Thoughts produce feelings which produces behavior. By changing the way you think we can manage your feelings and behaviors.

Christian Counseling

I am a Christian myself and actively involved in my local church. If you choose to incorporate religion into our sessions, I will share biblical knowledge and will give biblical teaching during sessions. However, you have to request that you want this as an option as I do not force my beliefs on others.

Couples Counseling

I have five years of experience working with couples. I previously worked in a church setting doing coupes sessions and handling issues of divorce, cheating, and repairing relationships and building trust. Marriage therapy and premarital therapy. The first step is making sure both parties want to work and willing to work. From there we will discuss what issues to work on to better your relationship.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I have used person centered approach for over ten years and your input and choice on coping skills are considered. I do not tell you what choices to make rather guide you in exploring the choices and consequences so you can make an informed decision.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have been trained in TF-CBT and have 6 years of experience. When working with TF-CBT, there is a packet and assessments that we will complete that will guide our therapy sessions.
