I am licensed in New Jersey with 13 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping adolescents and adults with stress and anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, and depression. I believe that you are the expert on your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change and I am here to support and empower you in that journey.
In our first session, we will discuss what brought you to therapy, some things that you have tried in the past that worked well and things that didn't go so well, along with a short questionnaire for me to gather some insight into your background and to help to get to know you more.
Clients have said that they appreciate my demeanor and attention during our sessions. Additionally, I have been told that I help to brighten their day. Most of my clients make progress with their initial therapy goals and can establish new goals as a result. All of my clients can see positivity within themselves and adapt a new mindset about themselves and their capabilities.
All people have core beliefs that trigger automatic thoughts. Sometimes, these thoughts can be maladaptive. Using CBT, we will work together to identify core beliefs and automatic thoughts that are not serving you and help to create new thoughts and feelings for a more positive outlook. I have been treating clients using CBT for over a decade.
DBT teaches the act of mindfulness. Together, we will work on staying in the present during stressful or high-pressure situations to act with intention instead of being reactionary. DBT utilizes journaling, breathing, and thought work to focus on the here and now. I have been treating clients using DBT for almost a decade.
Solution-focused Brief Therapy is used to help with a goal or to overcome a problem or dilemma. Together, we will formulate a step-by-step plan to help achieve a goal or tackle a problem using motivating factors and positive psychology to find solutions. I have been treating clients using Solution Focused Brief Therapy for over a decade.
In infancy, we interact in different ways with our caregivers. These early relationships that were developed on our behalf dictated our relationships or attachment styles. Together, we will work on identifying the client's attachment style(s) and what this means according to what each person needs to give and receive from relationships. I have added Attachment-based therapy to my therapeutic toolbox in the past 3 years.
