Welcome! I'm Casi Krall. I received my Master's degree in 2000 from National Louis University. I've worked in social services for 32 years altogether, working individually with therapy clients for 12 years. I believe that every dream — whether it comes to fruition or not — shapes who we are. In my work, I honor the beauty of our past aspirations, recognizing that even the dreams that didn't work out hold immense value. They teach us about our hopes, resilience and the unique paths we take toward growth. My approach to therapy is about exploring these dreams with curiosity and gratitude, helping you weave your past into a narrative that empowers your future. I view therapy as a collaborative journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Together we explore the tapestry of your experiences, both the fulfilled and the unfulfilled dreams, to uncover the wisdom they hold. I work with you to reframe setbacks as meaningful lessons and to transform old narratives into a source of empowerment for your future. By embracing your entire story with curiosity and compassion, we can build a foundation that honors your past while opening up new possibilities for growth and fulfillment
In our first session, we will start with introductions and getting to know each other a bit. I prefer to talk about likes/dislikes along with the reason you are coming to counseling now. We are then able to get a feel for each other. I believe that it is very important that you find a counselor you connect with. If not, then therapy usually doesn't work well. If we have established that I am the right fit for you, then we can get started with a plan to work through any difficulties you are experiencing.
I think that everyone has a story, and I'm here to listen to yours. The best compliment I received as a therapist was that I was very real, and I put people at ease.
I integrate directive, client-centered, and interactive techniques, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of clients ages 8 through adulthood, including couples and families. My passion extends particularly to working with adolescent girls, supporting them in navigating issues related to body image, self-worth and self-esteem. In addition, I provide specialized guidance for individuals affected by domestic violence, helping them build the foundation for healthy, respectful relationships. I love to use metaphors to help clients better understand and articulate their internal experiences. By translating abstract feelings into tangible images, metaphors provide a creative pathway to insight and healing. Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), we examine the connections between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This empowers you to understand and transform negative patterns. Recognizing that sometimes immediate tools and skills are needed, I also incorporate dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) strategies, such as distress tolerance and emotional regulation, to help you manage challenges in the here and now.
I pull from many different modalities while working in session with clients. My background is in CBT, but I am open to working with clients where there are in life. I draw from a variety of disciplines including mindfulness, acceptance, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, among others.
