My name is Chiwoo. I work with people who struggle with overthinking, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. As a recovering people-pleaser myself, I understand how hard it can be to stay connected to your authentic self while constantly trying to meet others’ expectations. In therapy, I combine evidence-based approaches with my own healing journey to help you feel less alone, build self-trust, and live with more confidence and authenticity.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Overthinkers and people-pleasers often find it hard to be fully present. In our first session, I focus on creating a calm, structured, and warm space so your nervous system can relax. Together, we’ll practice slowing things down, make sense of your overthinking and people-pleasing cycle, and provide what your nervous system needs to be grounded. You’ll leave with more clarity and a few concrete tools to support you between sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As a recovering people pleaser myself, I have made my share of mistakes, but through those experiences, I learned the lessons and skills that truly work. I understand how it can feel to be trapped in overthinking and people-pleasing patterns, which is why I'm so passionate about this work. What I love most about this work is witnessing my clients become more grounded, self-assured, and authentic.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with clients who struggle with overthinking, perfectionism, and people-pleasing, especially those who feel stuck in guilt, self-doubt, or chronic anxiety. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but feel disconnected, exhausted, or unsure of who they are underneath. You may be ready to slow down, understand your patterns, and build self-confidence, but lack the tools and consistency. I’m a good fit if you’re looking for a therapist who offers both structure and warmth, and who values insight, nervous system regulation, and practical tools.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and understand how these thoughts influence their emotions and behaviors. Together, we work to challenge distortions, build emotion regulation skills, and create healthier habits and more balanced thinking.
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
I use a warm, supportive approach based on AEDP to help clients feel less alone in their struggles. By creating a safe, caring relationship in therapy, we work together to gently process difficult emotions and build new, healing experiences that support emotional growth and resilience.
