Hello. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida. I received my Master's Degree from Webster University and currently, I'm working towards a Ph.D. in General Psychology, from Capella University. I have been in private practice for three years. I help women who have experienced a variety of challenges of childbirth. Whether it's infertility, anxiety during pregnancy, fetal loss, postpartum anxiety/depression, and even menopause.
In our first session, we will give introductions, I will gather important information, and we will get into the concerns on your heart and mind. This will support me in creating a unique treatment plan for our therapy sessions to be beneficial and successful.
Having worked with children for 21 years as an educator and school counselor has given me a firm foundation in compassion and patience. Having worked with women who desire to have children for the last 4 years and being trained in perinatal mental health gives the client a safe and knowledgeable space to enter during therapy. Additionallly, I had both of my daughters after the age of 35, a miscarriage, a severe bout of postpartum depression, and now in the midst of menopause; gives me a personal perspective to relate to my clients.
Utilizing CBT for the last 15 years with children and now adults has allowed clients to acknowledge and validate their emotions, name them appropriately, and convey them to others to be understood and respected.
Invitation of God's word, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and prayer are welcomed in sessions and encouraged to allow the client to have healing in the areas of mind, body, and spirit.
When a client can include a cultural perception in the session, it provides a level of engagement and respect that they desire and deserve.
Taking the time to be in the present is a skill and mindfulness presents the ability to concentrate on the moment and the beauty in it. Whether mindfulness includes breathing, eating, walking, or listening it allows the individual the space to think about what is truly most important to him or her.
As a former educator and school counselor for 21 years, it is important to teach clients skills that are inviting, engaging, and useful. Utilizing worksheets, videos, and books is an important part of the interactive therapy I provide.
