I often employ CBT to help clients recognize how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. We address faulty/unhelpful thinking, patterns of unhelpful behavior, and learn better ways of coping with presenting problems, thereby relieving symptoms and allowing them to becoming more effective in his/her life for significant improvement in functioning and quality of life.
I utilize EMDR to assist clients to focus on altering the emotions, thoughts, and responses resulting from traumatic experiences. I provide a supportive environment to safely discus, process, and strip away the power of the distressing emotion associated with the trauma that may trigger anxiety and avoidance. We will cultivate a plan to how to handle disturbing thoughts and feelings more constructively by building coping skills, stress management, and distress tolerance.
