Hi, I’m Jennifer. Are you feeling lost, overwhelmed, or stuck? Have you been trying your best to navigate challenges that feel like too much? You’re not alone. You deserve support, and you can heal and find relief. You may be going through a life transition, have become more aware of past or present traumas impacting you now, or have faced a recent difficult experience, and are ready to begin your healing journey. I help empower individuals to overcome past adverse and traumatic experiences to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
In our initial sessions, we will be discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, exploring your concerns, and understanding your goals and expectations, as well as developing a treatment plan tailored to your goals and unique needs. My style of therapy is encouraging, supportive, and compassionate. I see you as the expert of your own life, and my role is to empower your self-understanding and healing abilities while encouraging you to embrace new narratives and skills. I will support you in developing skills to better manage overwhelming emotions, build and maintain healthy relationships, and process emotional experiences.
I bring a warm and nonjudgmental approach to my practice. Clients have expressed that I have a calm and accepting way that puts them at ease and helps them to open up. My aim is to provide you with a safe, empathetic and honest space for you to share your story, explore your hopes, and celebrate your strengths. Taking the first step in creating change in your life takes strength, and that is what you are doing today. If we work together, I’m going to walk alongside you, I’m going to listen to your story, and we’re going to find a way forward together.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the premise that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and that identifying and challenging negative and unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs can lead to changes in emotional well-being and behavior. I have completed training in CBT and have found this be an effective way to initially approach presenting issues and frame therapy around.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy emphasizes awareness of one's internal states and surroundings, and helps clients to avoid destructive or automatic habits and responses by learning to observe their thoughts, emotions, and other present-moment experiences without judgment or reaction. I apply mindfulness-based therapy to address a range of issues.
Person-Centered Therapy is grounded in the humanistic belief that you are the expert in your own life, possessing the innate ability to solve problems and make healthy decisions. My role is to help you uncover and build upon these capabilities. In practicing Person-Centered Therapy, I provide a non-judgmental, unbiased, warm, and compassionate space for you to work towards achieving your goals.
Strength-Based Therapy emphasizes identifying and building on an individual's strengths, resources, and capacities rather than solely focusing on weaknesses or problems. My goal is to empower you by nurturing a positive and optimistic view of your abilities, resilience, and potential for growth.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment for trauma. I am trained in EMDR and this modality is designed to relieve the distress associated with traumatic memories by encouraging the client to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation.
