New to Grow
I am a seasoned older adult with twenty-five years of clincial experiences as a licenced mental health counselor. I have worked with families; caregivers; employees; and adults over 18 years old. I visited families in their homes over the years before doing telehealth visits on a permanent basis. I have extensive experiences providing mindfulness behavioral therapy along with CBT and grief counseling. Recently, I started training in Forest Bathing with your dog as I very interested in using nature therapy as a treatment modality for chronic health stressors. Before that, I provided animal assisted therapy with my dog, Woody where clients felt more at ease and relaxed discussing their challenges in their lives. As a mother of a teenage boy, I am married and have a senior dog named Woody.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first meeting is a meet and greet. We talk a little bit about you before digging in what brought you to therapy. I inquire if you know what counseling is about or ever been to it in the past. I also go over the expectations of the length of the sessions and review the intake forms and measurements.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am a great listener where I give you my unconditioned attention and time during the session. I am very intuitive in understanding your story and what is important to you. We will work together to identify coping skills that either need tweaking or need to be replaced with healthier and workable methods for you to promote well-being.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with clients who are struggling with challenges that have become overwhelming and are motivated to work on them at your their own pace. I believe the client is in the driver's seat in choosing what they would like to work on and possibly make incremental changes over time.
