About me

I’m Ja’Neen. I help women, mothers, and families navigate life’s transitions with compassion, clarity, and support. As both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a doula, I bring a unique blend of mental health expertise and real-world perinatal experience to my sessions. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, grief, or the challenges of pregnancy and postpartum, I provide a safe space to be seen, supported, and empowered. My approach combines evidence-based practices like DBT and CBT with trauma-informed, holistic care. Above all, my goal is to remind you: you don’t have to walk this journey alone....I’ll be in your village.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a calm and supportive space to share your story at your own pace. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, your current challenges, and your goals for support. I’ll ask some guiding questions to better understand your needs, but the session is really about you feeling heard and understood. Together, we’ll begin creating a plan that feels realistic and supportive; whether that’s learning new coping tools, processing past experiences, or preparing for the changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting. By the end of the session, my goal is for you to feel validated, less alone, and encouraged about the path forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my approach is the way I blend evidence-based methods with real-world understanding of the perinatal journey. I combine therapies like DBT, CBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with a warm, trauma-informed style that meets you where you are. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I provide both validation and practical tools they can use right away. My background as both a therapist and a doula allows me to see the whole picture...mind, body, and family! Together we can create meaningful, lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve women and families in the perinatal period...during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. I work with women or families who are seeking support with life transitions, identity changes, and emotional wellness. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, birth trauma, grief, relationship stress, and the overwhelm that can come with parenting. Many of my clients want to feel more balanced, strengthen their support systems, and develop practical tools to manage emotions and stress. Whether you are preparing for birth, adjusting to postpartum life, or navigating motherhood at any stage, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help mothers and families in the perinatal period manage strong emotions, intrusive thoughts, and stress. By teaching skills like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and healthy communication, I support clients in navigating postpartum challenges such as overwhelm, identity changes, and relationship stress. DBT allows me to provide both validation and practical tools so parents feel grounded, supported, and empowered during this transformative stage of life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help mothers and families identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop healthier ways of coping. With perinatal clients, this often means challenging negative self-talk, reducing intrusive worries, and building confidence during pregnancy and postpartum. CBT gives parents practical tools to reframe thoughts, manage anxiety and depression, and feel more present and connected in their daily lives.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help mothers and families focus on strengths, resources, and small steps forward. With perinatal clients, this often means identifying what’s already working, setting realistic goals for daily life, and finding hope in the middle of challenges. SFBT allows parents to feel empowered, capable, and supported as they move toward the changes they want for themselves and their families.
