LPCMH, 10 years of experience
Hello! I am a licensed mental health clinician with 10 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and families facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I believe that therapy is a space for healing, growth, and reclaiming your inner strength. I mainly specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and burnout. My therapeutic style integrates dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based techniques, reality therapy, and trauma-informed care, tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I also continue to work with couples, and families. My earlier years specialized in family therapy, parent/child conflict, using evidenced based models to help with the family structure in-person, in the homes, but I have made adaptations to the specific models so they can be continued in outpatient therapy. In our sessions, you’ll find a nonjudgmental and supportive space to explore what’s holding you back and build practical tools for change. Whether you're navigating a crisis or seeking deeper personal insight, I’m here to walk with you at your pace.
The first few sessions are just us getting to know one another. it's important for me to get to know you, your story, and take my time before making an effective and accurate treatment plan. I feel that "just talking" also helps my clients better map out what they want to get out of therapy and at their on pace.
I use self disclosure, and talk on a real level with my clients, and I help hold my clients accountable for the change they want to see. I've always been told my therapeutic space is always "safe".
I am someone who will applaud and praise people for having/ insight and self-awareness. it's very powerful to get to that point- but I want my clients to understand I am there to also push for you to make the next steps after finding insight and awareness. What are you going to do next? I also will provide skills but I want my clients to understand that they have to do something with those skills. They are going to best succeed in growth when they apply themselves. We are in a partnership- we both have our jobs cut out for us
I was specifically a family based clinician for 3 years drawing from the SFT model that helps identify and shift patterns that may be keeping a family "stuck". Together, the families and I would look at how roles, boundaries, and communication styles within the family were impacting relationships or contributing to a members' struggles. using the model, I was able to help families interact in new ways. The goal was to always empower families to become more cohesive, resilient, and supportive of each other. While in outpatient therapy, I continue to still utilize this model in family therapy, family conflict, parent/child conflic in therapy.
I have studied and utilized DBT in my work for over a decade. DBT is an evidence based approach that help individuals manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, and make more effective choices. It is an approach that has many skills that are useful on a daily basis and are beneficial in life overall. I work with clients to validate your experiences while also building practical skills to cope, communicate and regulate emotions more effectively. This is my most used therapeutic approach.
I use Reality Therapy to help clients take control of their lives by focusing on the choices they make and how those choices impact their relationships, goals, and overall well-being. I always help people understand that while we can’t always control what happens to us, we can choose how we respond. My goal in using this approach is to support you in making more intentional choices that align with your values and lead to meaningful change. It's an approach that I find is very relatable to my clients, and helpful.
