I am a therapist who has been in practice for over 40 years providing techniques to children, families and the elderly that empower them to make changes in their lives that put them more in balance with their true potential and resilience. My counseling is a mosaic of education, experience and continued learning to assist my clients in living their best possible life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be about exploring what your goals are for therapy and what changes you are wanting to make. You will have an opportunity to explain what has brought you to seek help and see if my style fits with your needs and where you want to go therapeutically. I will be your biggest cheerleader and leave you with a sense of hope.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My techniques have been honed over many years in many roles. I have been a child protection worker, parole officer, drug counselor, child and family therapist, hospice social worker and ran a juvenile hall for 4 years. My clients tell me that I put them at ease and tackle difficult problems with clear boundaries and compassion. Ultimately, I give them the hope that they need to address the changes that are needed and offer the confidence to meet these challenges.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am a spiritually based therapist who happens to be a Lesbian, adoptive parent, in recovery and practicing my craft for over 40 years. I understand how prejudice can make you feel less than others and hopeless and how personal autonomy can come from belief in one's ability and the right to a fulfilled life with purpose. My favorite clients are those who are willing to honestly accept themselves as they are, see a brighter future based on changes to internal dialog that come from their willingness to self love.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy with my patients to assist with overcoming barriers to self-fulfillment and joy in life. I am practical and positive and nonjudgemental.

Compassion Focused

I use talk therapy to explore the beliefs that are keeping persons from becoming and experiencing joy and success in their lives. By exposing these beliefs and reframing negative thoughts, it is possible to develop healthy coping skills.

Grief Therapy

I have worked for the past 15 years as a hospice therapist and have assisted numerous families and individuals in saying goodbye and redefining their lives in a manner that realizes that life can return to some degree of balance after a loss and that peace can be found.
