LPC, 25 years of experience
I have lived a life much like most of my clients. I have experienced hardships and achievements, sadness and joy, and disappointment in myself and in others. For most of my life, I have been lucky enough to somehow “figure it out” on my own. At one point in my life, I made a commitment to myself that no one should have to “figure it out” on their own. We all need to have someone who is committed to helping us out when we are at our most vulnerable.
The first sessions are my favorite. The first session might be the moment when you are open to getting the assistance you need to start your change process. With patience, we will explore how you got to this place in your life and how your life might look different moving forward. Trust is critical, so the first session might be a time that you ask me the questions you might need to, so that we can move forward with reassurance that we are a good team.
My communication style is casual and grounded in practicality, patience, and purpose. I follow the pace of my clients. Possibly, as our relationship develops and trust is established, we might mutually agree to quicken the pace towards achieving a milestone. My motto is to pace with purpose and to get better results for my clients.
I work collaboratively with my clients to establish what a better life might look like and how we get there, from here. I believe that movement is essential to a successful therapeutic outcome, so we will always be intentional about our goals and the movements we are making toward our goals.
I assist individuals with adjustments that might have occurred during challenging times and help them construct a new way of approaching life. My therapeutic approach is a combination of DBT and Solution-Focused.
