I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I have 11 years of experience working with adults experiencing anxiety and depression. I am passionate about helping clients and their families with both situational and chronic issues of depression, anxiety, social/relational dynamics, job burnout, chronic illness and life transitions. I ascribe to a holistic approach, integrating modalities that address mind, body, and spirit. I view the therapy session as a valuable time of self-discovery, healing, and growth. My therapy style is relaxed, supportive, and focused. I believe you are the expert on yourself and that you know yourself better than anyone else. Angie completed her Master's in Social Work with a concentration in clinical practice from George Mason University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from American Public University. Angie individualizes the therapeutic experience by utilizing several treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. Asking for help can be very tough. Angie understands this and provides each client with a safe and comfortable space to freely express themselves and not feel judged. Clients need someone to listen with compassion and understanding. You are always the expert on your own life. Angie will work hard to provide you with the tools you need to motivate yourself to successfully make positive change.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session you will be asked, "What brings you here?" You can expect to do the talking, with me as a guide to help bring out the issue at hand. You can expect a clinician with a great deal of patience, professionalism, a safe space to explore your feelings, and a completely non-judgmental atmosphere.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a provider who has been working with a wide variety of clients over the past eleven years, I have proficiency in helping clients define the problem, determine the negative effects it is having in life, and develop a collaborative plan for treatment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have experience working with all kinds of clients. I especially love working with adults experiencing chronic illness, adults over age 65, adult caregivers of aging parents, adults experiencing career difficulties such as burnout, parents, empty-nesters, retirees (or soon to be retired) and anyone experiencing anxiety.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT in practice to help clients identify ways of thinking which have been unhelpful. Clients learn to use evidence-based thinking to help reduce feelings of anxiety.
