LCSW, 21 years of experience
EXPERIENCED. ACCESSIBLE. EVENINGS & WEEKENDS. With 20 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and Colorado, I have devoted my career to helping individuals strengthen their mental and emotional well-being. My work has spanned a wide range of clients and life circumstances—including WWII Veterans, paralyzed Veterans, caregivers, end-of-life support, members of the Queer community, and individuals navigating depression, anxiety, and both childhood and adult cancers. My approach is client-centered and tailored to each person’s unique story. I believe deeply in the mind–body connection and integrate practices such as meditation, exercise, nutrition, and restorative sleep into therapy. Together, we work toward helping you rise into your strongest, most authentic self. As a secular and liberal therapist, I celebrate diversity and honor individuality. I affirm that love is love, and I provide a safe, supportive environment for clients of all sexual orientations and gender identities. I also have experience working with clients in alternative relationship structures (swinging, polyamory), as well as couples in interracial relationships and blended families. I draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am committed to ongoing professional development, including training in psychedelic therapy and integration through the Integrated Psychiatry Institute. My role is to guide clients through challenges, equip them with coping strategies, and support them in creating meaningful, sustainable change. If you are seeking an experienced, compassionate therapist who will meet you where you are, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can build a path of healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Our work together begins with a comprehensive first session. During this time, I’ll guide you through a full assessment, asking questions about your personal history, relationships, health, substance use, mental health background, and the stressors you’re currently facing. This gives me a well-rounded understanding of your life and helps us identify patterns that may be influencing how you feel today. After the assessment, we’ll spend time talking about your goals—what brought you to therapy, what you’d like to change, and what “feeling better” might look like for you. These goals may evolve over time, but starting with a clear vision helps us focus our work. Equally important, we’ll use this first session to determine if we are a good fit to work together. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of successful therapy, and it’s essential that you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. I encourage you to ask me questions as well, so you can assess whether my style and approach feel right for you. Therapy is more than talking once a week—it’s about learning skills, building insights, and applying those tools between sessions in your daily life. My role is to guide and support you, but the real transformation happens as you practice outside of the therapy space. Together, we will create a collaborative process that fosters growth, healing, and meaningful change.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to be fully present with clients during their most difficult moments. Whether someone is facing end of life, living with a disability, struggling with substance use, or coping with illness, I meet them with compassion, steadiness, and non-judgment. Some of the work I am most proud of has been with cancer patients and with mothers of children battling cancer. Having been both a breast cancer survivor myself and the mother of a child who survived leukemia, I understand the profound emotional, physical, and spiritual layers of these experiences. I know what it means to be both patient and caregiver, and I bring that depth of empathy into my sessions. My clients often tell me they feel truly seen—not as a diagnosis, but as a whole person. I am also deeply grateful for the years I spent working with Veterans. I had the privilege of supporting WWII Veterans in their late 80s and 90s, as well as Veterans adjusting to life with spinal cord injuries, including paraplegia, quadriplegia, ALS, and MS. Those experiences taught me resilience, dignity, and the power of human connection even in the face of immense challenge. Beyond my clinical expertise, I bring the strength of lived experience, authenticity, and openness. As a secular, liberal, and affirming therapist, I create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ clients, people in alternative relationship structures, and families navigating blended identities. My personal mantra—“Just keep swimming”—reminds me daily that growth and healing are not about perfection, but persistence. Ultimately, my strength lies in walking alongside clients with honesty, compassion, and respect—helping them find meaning, coping strategies, and a sense of self no matter what they are facing.
I work with young adults and adults navigating a wide range of challenges, including: Cancer & Caregiving – individuals facing cancer diagnoses, survivors, and caregivers balancing emotional and practical demands. Alcohol Misuse – those exploring sobriety or seeking to change their relationship with substances. Mothers – supporting women through parenting stress, identity shifts, and the many roles of motherhood. End of Life – clients and families preparing for or coping with end-of-life transitions. Depression & Anxiety – individuals struggling with mood, overwhelm, or persistent worry. Veterans – with specialized experience working with WWII and paralyzed Veterans, as well as those coping with trauma and reintegration. Life Transitions – divorce, blended families, or other major shifts in relationships and identity. LGBTQ+ & Queer Community – inclusive of poly, trans, and alternative relationship structures. Above all, I am open-minded and non-judgmental. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you can show up as your full self and feel supported in your healing and growth.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) CBT helps you recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to stress, anxiety, or depression. It’s structured and goal-oriented, with a focus on learning practical skills you can apply right away to navigate challenges and create lasting change. Somatic Therapy Somatic therapy works with the connection between mind and body. Stress, trauma, and tension often live in the body, and this approach helps release them through awareness, movement, and gentle exercises. It provides a safe way to process emotions and feel more grounded in your physical experience. Mindfulness Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in the moment without judgment. By learning techniques such as breathing, meditation, and noticing sensations, clients can reduce stress, increase focus, and respond more calmly to difficult emotions or thoughts. Solution-Focused Therapy This approach emphasizes strengths, resources, and practical solutions rather than staying stuck in problems. Together, we focus on what’s already working in your life and explore how to build on it, moving step by step toward your goals. Motivational Interviewing Motivational interviewing is a collaborative and empowering approach that helps you uncover your own reasons for making positive changes. It’s especially effective for lifestyle adjustments, substance use, or health-related goals, supporting you in moving from ambivalence to confidence.

I was only allowed to pick 2 superlatives for Amy, so I will add that she is empowering, warm, challenging, direct, openminded and authentic. I have made so much progress in a short period of time, and it would not have been possible without Amy's gentle guidance. Thank you Amy!
