My name is Rosalie Masoero-Palmer I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My work is rooted in compassion, understanding, and a deep commitment to social justice. I strive to create a therapeutic environment where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to heal, grow, and thrive on your own terms. Therapy with me will feel a lot like a conversation. Throughout, I will guide the conversation to challenge, explore, and deepen our joint understanding. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness, and Feminist therapy to guide the therapeutic process.
Your first session with me will be very relaxed and while I will certainly want to get to know you, and have certain things to explore, do not expect to get aggressively interrogated. This is our time to build our connection, get to know each other -- do a vibe check!? Therapy will fail if the therapeutic relationship is not sound. I will spend this time ensuring I am able to provide for your clinical needs, getting a feel for your personality, and - yes - asking some questions to ensure we are a suitable fit. My goal is for you to feel as though you've spent an hour talking to a caring, interested, empathetic, girl's girl, who has oodles of ideas to help you feel your best.
I pride myself specifically in two areas: 1) my empathy 2) my ability to connect with people and make them feel comfortable. I think my empathetic skills inform the other; meaning, I can offer you what you need to be as comfortable as possible in the therapeutic space so we can dig into productive healing.
I find that a lot of my work is with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized groups. I focus a great deal on trauma (childhood, and otherwise), depression, anxiety, existential fears, and resourcing (brainstorming community resources). For the most part, I specialize in helping individuals navigate personal challenges, relationship dynamics, and societal pressures through a Feminist therapy lens - don't panic! Feminist therapy is for everyone, not just the girlies! I create a compassionate and empowering space for clients to explore their feelings, identities, relationships and experiences in the context of their lives.
With ACT, we will combine aspects of behavioral therapy with mindfulness and other acceptance strategies to focus on mental wellness. We will work to create a judgment-free relationship with your thoughts and feelings - to embrace them instead of avoiding them - while also committing to actions that align with their core values.
In therapy, it often comes back to childhood, right? Attachment-based techniques ask how early attachment experiences, both positive and negative, have influenced your current and past emotional responses, behaviors, and relationships. We will work to use the understanding of how your attachments were formed to learn how to build healthier, more secure, attachments.
I am a relationship counselor for all types of significant relationships: married, un-married, monogamous, polyamorous, consensually non-monogamous, and more. I create a judgment-free space which emphasizes the health of the relationship(s) without favoring any particular participant. I like to say - the relationship is my client, not either of you.
Feminist therapy is not just for the ladies/femmes - it's for everyone. Rooted in feminist theory, this approach focuses on empowering you to recognize and confront social, political, and cultural factors that contribute to your struggles, particularly those related to gender, but also intersecting issues like race, class, sexuality, and ability.
I honor the widespread impact of trauma on individuals and aims to create environments that are sensitive, supportive, and empowering for those who have experienced trauma. We will look at how past trauma has shaped your emotions, behaviors, and relationships.
