My therapeutic style is straightforward, and I invite open communication about clients’ experiences in therapy throughout the process. People would likely describe me as direct and straight to the point. Most often I practice through the lenses of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, and existential theory. How I help clients reach goals: I believe clients have the capacity to develop their own solutions and that, through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, meaningful movement toward a desired quality of life is possible. I hope that by working together, we can organize and achieve your goals, whatever they may be. If you're unsure of what direction you want to head, we can work on that together, too. My journey to becoming a provider: I am a prior service turned mental health professional. I served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic from 2009 to 2012, with one deployment to Iraq. After my service, I switched over to mental health, starting with working in an inpatient mental health facility. I have since worked at a substance use clinic, a private practice, a team practice, and taught psychoeducational classes alongside DHS. I hold two master’s degrees, in addition to a bachelor’s and an associate's degree. I bring specialized knowledge and clinical focus in trauma, sexual concerns, and disordered eating.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

A first session would be a chance to get to know you. I would ask a lot of questions while giving you space to share as much as you feel comfortable sharing. With this information, we can develop a targeted treatment plan and proceed in a systematic and organized manner. I would also like to know if you think I am a good fit for your needs, as we are a team that cannot function without effective communication.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths in this career is being genuine. I will always be as candid as possible, whether gently or directly. I truly believe I work for the client because, without you, I have no job. We are a team, and can progress towards success by communicating what is needed and wanted. I also believe that we all have the capacity to meet our goals, but sometimes we need assistance in reaching them. You are the repair person, and I am bringing the ladder and specialty tools to help you finish the job.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Those who are serious about their mental health and have a strong desire to make the changes they need to make are the people I enjoy working with the most. "Nothing changes if nothing changes!" I most often work with individuals who have experienced trauma, and through partnership, my goal is to help clients move from surviving to thriving. As an Army OIF veteran, I also frequently provide care to other veterans.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT can help us to identify thinking patterns that are no longer serving us, and change them. Consequently, our feelings and behaviors should follow suit.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Learning how to move through bigger feelings and accept things that are unchanging can help grow a new level of mindfulness.

Existential

Existential acknowledges our own life experiences and the concept that we need purpose and direction in life, no matter how big or small.

Humanistic

I meet you with unconditional positive regard to help you travel towards self-actualization.

Sex Therapy

I will always hear what you have to say in a nonjudgmental way.
