Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will be getting to know each other. We will discuss the reason(s) for your visit and what you hope to accomplish in therapy. I will gather some background information from you so I can better understand your needs, concerns, fears and goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a provider, I believe my greatest strengths lie in my ability to actively listen, intuitively understand my client's needs, and think outside the box to tailor solutions that address each client's unique circumstances.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My clients are looking for ways to make their lives more manageable and less stressful from the daily pressures of life, work, finances, children and relationships. They are looking for ways to improve their communication skills and how to resolve conflicts more successfully or they may be looking for a more work-life balance. Some of my clients find themselves feeling depressed, sad, overwhelmed, anxious or grief stricken not knowing where to turn or who to confide in. Others feel so hopeless they start engaging in substances and other self-destructive behaviors. Whatever you may be going through, I'm here to help you through it.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is very effective in treating people who have depression and/or anxiety or have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. DBT is particularly helpful for people who feel overwhelmed by emotions or struggle with self-destructive behaviors. DBT provides practical tools to regulate your emotions, tolerate distress and replace negative thought patterns with more balanced perspectives. DBT also focuses on building healthy relationships by improving communication, setting boundaries and asserting your needs while maintaining self-respect. You will learn new coping skills, distraction techniques, mindfulness and relaxation skills that will make your life less chaotic and more rewarding.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Simply put, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one kind of therapy that helps clients change the way they think (cognition) and act (behavior). It's based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings and behavior are closely linked and influence each other by impacting the way we see the world - how we tackle our to-do list, our worries, how we problem solve and manage difficult situations or setbacks, how we face our fears and how we bounce back from life's challenges. CBT has helped to equip my clients with the skills necessary to transform maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors into more realistic, balanced, healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges and those around us.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SI), we will address your suicidal thoughts and behaviors by looking at distortions in your thinking and what maladaptive coping skills you have been using. You will learn what triggers your suicidal thinking and behaviors and how to prevent acting on them.

Couples Counseling

Couples Counseling is not about taking sides and pointing out who is the good guy or bad guy. We all make mistakes and say things or do things we later regret. Couples Counseling gives each of us an opportunity to look at ourselves in a deeper way and make the necessary changes we need to do to become the best versions of ourselves. Together, we will learn that both parties have contributed to the break-down of the relationship. We will learn how to communicate more effectively with one another using active listening skills, how to resolve conflicts by understanding the importance of compromising and how it leads to win-win situations and how to rebuild trust and intimacy.

Grief Therapy

In Grief Therapy, we will work together to process the complex emotions associated with your loss. Together, we will explore your feelings of disbelief, sadness, anger and guilt. We will also explore how to keep moving forward with your life during this devastating time.

It was nice meeting her. First meetings are always hard, but I felt comfortable around her. She was professional, but at the same time, friendly and open to conversation.
