New to Grow
I practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trauma Therapy. EMDR is an alternative to traditional talk therapy in which Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) is used to desensitize and reprocess “stuck” traumatic memories influencing negative beliefs we have about ourselves, others and the world. Talk therapy is still a part of EMDR, but if you feel like talk therapy alone has not been helpful for your symptoms, consider scheduling a session with me to practice EMDR sessions for 1 hour each. Clients report improvement in symptoms after about 3-5 consecutive reprocessing sessions.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will involve me getting to know you from conception until now, second session will be creating treatment goals, and third session we will assess for readiness in potentially starting EMDR reprocessing.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I identify as a first generation, Mexican-American (able-bodied, cisgendered) woman :) all identities deserve to feel safe, honored, and embraced. I speak Spanish fluently.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
EMDR is recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) as a first-line treatment for PTSD. Whether you have experienced “capital T “ trauma or simply cannot rationalize some of your emotional reactions, EMDR can help with any experiences that have left a lasting negative impact.
EMDR
I am passionate about using EMDR to relieve distress related to memories that have had a lasting negative impact on the way we see ourselves, others and the world.
