Hi, my name is Jen Bowman and I have been a Social Worker since 2007. I am passionate about helping young adults and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, and grief and loss. I have worked in various settings throughout the years including foster care, out-patient mental health clinics, dialysis clinics, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. We can all feel depressed or anxious at times, but when we feel that way for a prolonged period, it may be time to consider getting support. People suffering from depression often experience symptoms such as isolation, negative self-talk, low motivation, sleep disturbance, low energy, hopelessness, helplessness, etc. When someone is suffering from anxiety, they often experience excessive worrying, agitation, irritability, restlessness, intrusive thoughts, difficulty concentrating, difficulty in social situations, panic attacks, etc. These are all things that I can help you with.
In our first session we will spend some time getting to know one another. I will ask you what your goals for therapy are in order to help ensure we are focusing on what you want to focus on. We will decide on the frequency of sessions that we both feel comfortable with given the severity of the symptoms your experiencing. We will briefly review the forms you signed that I sent to you prior to our first session. You will have time to ask me any questions you have about the process and/or myself.
I believe my biggest strengths are meeting the client where they are. I am a good listener, empathetic, and caring.
I enjoy working with young adults and adults that suffer from depression, anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, and trauma. I have experience working with college students. people who are going through life transitions, career changes, family issues, and childhood trauma.
I use BSP to help clients work through trauma, anxiety, and depression. BSP can enable someone to work through issues in a quicker manner and help a person to gain new perspectives.
