About me

Hello, I’m Devon Rankin, LMFT (#123947) — a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and graduate of Saint Mary’s College of California. I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 11 years and have been licensed since 2021. My experience spans across telehealth, community-based, and private practice settings, providing therapy to individuals, couples, families, teens, and children. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. I help clients explore the root causes of distress, strengthen emotional awareness, and rebuild healthy patterns in relationships and daily life. I integrate modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Client-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices to support holistic healing. I specialize in working with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relationship conflict, identity exploration, and life transitions. I also have a deep commitment to serving BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, recognizing how culture, identity, and systemic challenges shape emotional well-being. At the core of my work is the belief that healing begins from the roots — when we feel seen, supported, and safe enough to grow into our most authentic selves. My goal is to provide a space where clients can restore balance, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll take time to explore what brings you to therapy and discuss what you hope to gain from this process. This meeting isn’t just about collecting background information—it’s about beginning to build a genuine, collaborative relationship and seeing if we’re the right fit to work together. We’ll focus on creating a safe, supportive space where you can feel comfortable sharing your story at your own pace. Together, we’ll identify your goals, discuss the areas you’d like to grow in, and begin shaping a plan that fits your needs. Therapy with me is centered on helping you process past experiences, develop healthier coping skills, and move toward emotional balance and healing through trust and connection.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic style is humanistic, collaborative, and action-focused. I believe every client has the capacity to grow and heal when given a safe and supportive space. I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices to help clients gain insight, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build lasting emotional resilience. I often incorporate therapeutic homework—structured, goal-oriented exercises designed to help clients apply what we discuss in session to real-life situations. These assignments support accountability, self-awareness, and the development of healthy boundaries, emotional regulation, and self-compassion. My strengths include helping clients identify root issues beneath anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles; fostering communication and self-worth; and empowering individuals to take practical, mindful steps toward change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds who are ready to engage in the process of growth and healing. My ideal client is open to reflection, willing to do the inner work, and motivated to apply new tools and strategies between sessions. Therapy with me is active and collaborative—I often use therapeutic homework to help clients deepen self-awareness, practice emotional regulation, and build lasting change outside the therapy space. I work with individuals, couples, and families across diverse identities, life stages, and cultural backgrounds. Whether you’re navigating trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, parenting challenges, burnout, or anxiety, my goal is to provide a grounded, supportive space where you can explore, heal, and grow at your own pace. As part of ethical and clinical standards, I provide only Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters and attendance verification letters when clinically appropriate and when the client meets the necessary therapeutic criteria. I do not provide letters or documentation for family court, child custody, or other legal matters. My work centers on creating safety, trust, and accountability—so each client can reconnect with their strengths and move toward emotional balance, self-acceptance, and lasting growth.

My sessions with Devon are very enlightening. The key is to be honest with yourself and have courage to listen to the feedback. I’ve learned that I am in control of my moment and that I don’t have to relive the past in the present moment. Thank you Devon.
