Hello I'm Socorro. My name is Socorro "Cora" Dennis, and I am a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and an Alabama Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), and I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults (18 and up), and specialize in anxiety, stress, grief, and addiction using Client-centered and strength based approaches and incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. I use compassion, empathy, and validation for all of my clients. I also work closely with clients to re-frame their experiences to reduce distress and promote empowerment and gratitude.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

As a veteran, an African American woman, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have found that my style, approach and experiences makes me relatable to adults of all ages from various walks of life who may be dealing with the challenges of life's constant transitions and the pressures that come with. I work to help my clients process and navigate these transition periods and to obtain tools that will allow them to manage and cope and develop a more positive outlook on life.

Asked many questions to really make me think and open up. Enjoyed conversing and expressing how I feel about things to her.
