LICSW, 7 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Independent Clinic Social Worker and have 7 years of experience in group and individual therapy. I take a person centered and strength-based and person-centered approach to therapy. I believe that people have strengths within themselves to move forward or make changes and that therapy is a tool to help guide that process. I have training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Level 1), Narrative Therapy and Polyvagal Therapy.
The first session will be mostly focused on getting to know you, current concerns and what you are hoping to get from therapy. This is also a chance to see if I my therapeutic approach is a good fit.
I try to incorporate many approaches in therapy and really open to feed back as to what is helpful. I really enjoy continuing to learn and doing additional trainings which informs my practice. I really strive for therapy to feel like a non-judgmental comfortable and supportive space.
I work with Adults, 18 and older. I can work well with anyone looking to address the following concerns: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma-Related symptom, Stress, Adjusting to a transition or change, Grief.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a widely used therapeutic approach that focuses on how are thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected, and that changing negative thought patterns can impact feelings and behavior. I utilize CBT along with DBT and mindfulness strategies in my approach which can be helpful in treating many mental health conditions including anxiety, depression or stress.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is an evidence-based approach to treating trauma and other related conditions using grounding strategies and bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping). I have been certified in this specifically modality and practicing for a year and a half. I often incorporate grounding and resourcing strategies in all of my practice. And more specifically work with the 8 stages of EMDR with people wanting to specifically work on processing past trauma.
I often incorporate and provide education on different mindfulness-based exercises in my therapeutic approach.
Polyvagal therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the nervous system's role in regulating emotions and behavior. This therapeutic approach involves increasing awareness of nervous system states and ways of regulating to help people to manage stress or trauma symptoms.
