Living as your authentic self is sometimes a struggle with who you expect to be and who others expect you to be. Changing habits can be very difficult but I want you to know that you have the ability to start over and be the best version of yourself. As a Licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I use a holistic approach to support clients to meet their behavioral health goals. I love working with clients who “just need a place to vent” but also individuals who experience a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress management, substance use and grief. I began training as a psychotherapist 7 years ago and have worked with diverse and vulnerable populations in social services and healthcare settings ever since. My interests include LGBTQ+ and HIV Care, Substance Use Disorders, and Solution-focused therapy. I enjoy spending time with family, reading, dancing, and binging Netflix documentaries.
In our first therapy session we will discuss the presenting problem and start thinking about a plan for treatment. My focus is in empowering the client and building on the client’s strengths. I provide empathy, provide constructive feedback and create a climate of trust.
Therapy is not a one size fit all and I use various modalities when collaborating with a client. I will provide education on the treatment methods and tools we utilize so that you have a say in what works or does not work for you. Some of the treatment methods I utilize during sessions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused brief therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and existential therapy and eclectic therapy.
I provide empathy, provide constructive feedback and create a climate of trust. As a bilingual and bicultural therapist, I pride myself in being culturally sensitive and building cultural humility and respecting my client’s needs and self-determination. You will find that I am someone who is motivated to support you in meeting your goals and will keep you accountable.
