My name is Angela McCree and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a military veteran and a Disciple of Christ. I have obtained a graduate degree from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas and it is an honor to offer grace, safety, and solace to communities within the state of Texas. Many of my clients desire assurance, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Their goals center on setting boundaries, building better relationships and habits, and feeling more confident and comfortable in their own skin.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I have a client-centered approach to therapy. My desire is to learn your culture, experiences, personality and goals for life. During our initial sessions, we will look deeply into current issues, and build a practical plan for acknowledging, addressing, and regaining your confidence in your life. in the first session, I am the student and you are the teacher. I am ready to listen about what brings you to therapy, who you are today, and who you want to become. Many of my clients experience a decrease in symptoms within the first 4 sessions. How can I assist you in your goals for your life?

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My therapeutic philosophy is that every ailment has a root cause. It is important to seek symptom relief because comfort is important, especially in times of distress, depression, and traumatic dis-ease. However, acknowledging and addressing the cause of the symptoms will bring about a sense of safety and relief that is stable and long lasting. Continual research and study in trauma-informed and relational-informed therapy enable me to provide tools and methods that are important in the process of healing. My studies in spiritual and relationally-focused therapy, enable me to assess and treat in view of our triune nature as humans. Understanding that everything we experience affects us: Spirit, Soul, and Body.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

It is a privilege to provide a safe and judgmental free environment for caregivers, first responders, educators, veterans and their families during times of stress and uncertainty, for growth and self-improvement.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Used when assisting individuals that have fears, addictions and difficulties in acceptance and communication. Some essential tools that I use from this method are related to "validation, both self and other" , "building self-awareness", "learning effective interpersonal communication", "learning how to be at peace with self and others through understanding self-motivation"

Attachment-based

Relational therapy used to assist you in understanding, acknowledging and making changes to how you view the world. Attachment began in the womb and throughout our lives, it affects how we attempt to connect with others, or avoid connection. How we work, play and get along with others.

Christian Counseling

Renewing your mind is a biblical principle and I use this principle with client's that have no objection. I have witnessed many gain a better understanding of themselves and God, then begin to live fuller, healthier lives through acknowledgement, acceptance, gaining awareness and making personal decisions for changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Used in treatment of PTSD, OCD, Anger management, and Self-esteem issues when overthinking and overstimulation is an issue. Some tools used are "learning to challenge you thoughts to change your behaviors", "learning what your true needs are based on your thought process"

Polyvagal Therapy

Used in treatment of PTSD and trauma-based issues. Brings awareness and knowledge of how to care for your nervous system. Normalizing what takes place during times of stress and anxiety, and gently guiding you to begin the process of regulating your nervous system during these times.
