New to Grow
I am a licensed & PSYPACT-authorized clinical psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience supporting adults through complex emotional, medical, and life transitions. I specialize in women—especially women of color and LGBTQ+ women—navigating three deeply personal journeys: (1) building families through IVF, IUI, donor conception, surrogacy, or adoption; (2) moving through menopause transitions; and (3) MD assisted weight management via bariatric surgery or GLP‑1 medications. At the heart of my work is creating an affirming, culturally responsive space where women feel seen, heard, and free to be their authentic selves, in a world where these health issues often elicit bias and misunderstanding, and where bias toward identity can lead to disparities in treatment. I know firsthand the isolation, fear, and grief that can accompany IVF cycles and miscarriage. I help clients navigate emotional highs and lows, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and strengthen self-trust during each step of their family-building journey. Menopause is another stage too often met with silence or judgment. I meet clients where they are, offering validation, clarity, and tools to navigate emotional, physical, and relational changes with confidence. Losing weight, even with surgery or GLP‑1s, is only half the battle. I support clients in managing food noise, triggers, judgment, self-criticism, fear of regain, relationship shifts, and reconciling the “new you” in the mirror with the “you” you’ve carried inside for years. I help clients build resilience and agency while navigating bias, stigma, and the unique challenges of their journeys, turning moments of frustration into growth, empowerment, and self-trust.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is designed to offer a welcoming, affirming space where you can show up exactly as you are and feel genuinely seen and heard. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with the goal of building trust and helping you feel supported from the very beginning. We’ll also review consent to treatment, confidentiality, and key telehealth considerations so you have a clear understanding of your rights and what to expect from therapy. We’ll then talk about your personal journey—whether you’re building a family through IVF, IUI, donor conception, surrogacy, or adoption; navigating menopause transitions; or managing weight changes through bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medications. We’ll explore what this experience has been like for you emotionally, relationally, and day to day, and identify the pain points you’ve experienced, how you’ve coped so far, and areas for growth as you move through the remainder of your journey. I’ll also ask about relevant personal history, including your culture, identities, and lived experiences, along with past therapy experiences, current stressors, and strengths. I approach this with respect and curiosity, recognizing that these factors shape your values, worldview, coping strategies, and expectations for therapy. Together, we’ll use this understanding to clarify goals, notice patterns in your thoughts and behaviors, and identify small, actionable steps you can take to create meaningful change that aligns with your values and strengths. I’ll explain how I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This may include noticing unhelpful thought patterns, building coping strategies, identifying what’s already working, and leveraging your existing strengths to support meaningful change. Before we end, we’ll review next steps and begin shaping a plan that feels aligned with your needs, so you leave the session feeling grounded, supported, and hopeful about the work ahead.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
More and more women are talking about the emotional highs and lows that come with navigating infertility, donor conception, menopause transitions, and weight management—and yet, too many still feel isolated, judged, or unheard. These feelings hit even harder when bias around identities as BIPOC, AAPI, Latinx, or LGBTQ+ women shows up. I’m here to change that. I work with women—especially BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients—who are building families through IVF, IUI, donor conception, surrogacy, or adoption, moving through menopause, or managing weight changes through bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medications. I know how confusing, exhausting, and isolating these journeys can feel. My goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and less alone, while building the tools and confidence to move forward. The bulk of my career has been in integrated healthcare settings, supporting both physical and mental health. I’ve worked across the lifespan, lectured on the psychology of women, promoted equity and inclusivity, and trained clinicians in multicultural competence. I’ve also been on personal journeys that give me insight into what it feels like to carry hope, fear, and uncertainty all at once. Clients often describe me as warm, honest, direct, and empathetic—someone who meets you where you are, reflects back what you need to see, and gently challenges what’s getting in the way. My entire career has focused on being an LGBTQ+ ally, and creating affirming spaces where all clients feel seen, respected, and supported. In our sessions, we’ll explore your journey, identify the pain points you’ve experienced, how you’ve coped, and areas for growth as you move forward. We’ll notice patterns in your thoughts and behaviors, build coping skills, and take small, actionable steps that lead to real change. Together, we’ll work on strengthening your resilience, challenging unhelpful thoughts, and building self-trust while honoring your experiences. I use CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to make therapy collaborative, practical, and empowering. It’s about shifting what’s not working, building on what already works, and creating tools you can use outside of sessions. Therapy isn’t just talking—it’s doing, practicing, and transforming, even in small, everyday ways. If you’re tired of feeling alone, overwhelmed, or unheard on your journey, I see you. I hear you. I understand. And I can help you navigate these transitions with insight, resilience, and hope, creating a life that reflects your values, goals, and the person you truly are.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are tired of feeling unseen and alone on these tender journeys. They’re seeking a structured, affirming space to unpack experiences, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and take small, meaningful steps toward growth, healing, and self-efficacy. They’re ready to engage in therapy as a process that builds tools, insight, and confidence, helping them navigate life’s transitions with clarity, agency, and strength. Therapy with me is about more than talking. It’s about processing emotions, building coping skills, addressing past wounds, and drawing on your strengths to grow confidence, resilience, and self-trust. We’ll explore your story together, identify the pain points you’ve experienced, how you’ve coped, and areas for growth as you move forward. We’ll notice patterns in thoughts and behaviors, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and take small, actionable steps toward meaningful change. I use CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to make therapy collaborative, empowering, and grounded in your values, culture, and lived experience. Whether it’s navigating a challenging IVF cycle, reconciling the “new you” after weight management procedures, or managing the emotional and relational shifts of menopause, therapy is about doing, practicing, and transforming. Together, we’ll build strategies to face life’s transitions with resilience, agency, and self-trust, while managing stigma, bias, and self-doubt along the way. If you’re tired of feeling alone, unseen, or misunderstood, I see you. I hear you. I understand. My mission is to help you navigate these journeys with clarity, hope, and confidence, so you can live a life that reflects your values, goals, and authentic self.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients navigate the myriad of emotional challenges of infertility, alternative paths to building a family (IVF, IUI, adoption) or weight-loss. CBT provides a supportive framework to explore how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact, helping you notice unhelpful patterns without judgment. Using practical strategies, and small assignments to practice between sessions, this approach helps clients build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and gradually rely less on therapy—empowering you to manage challenges on your own over time.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients build on their strengths and what’s already working in their lives. Together, we set small meaningful goals and take practical steps toward positive change. This collaborative, future-focused approach supports rapid movement, and lasting progress—whether you’re navigating infertility, althernative paths to building families, or on an obesity recovery journey.
Multicultural
My approach to care centers on understanding the contextual factors that shape your experiences and identity. I view culture broadly, including not only ethnicity or nationality, but also family background, values, roles, body size, gender, socioeconomic factors, and lived experience. Each person belongs to multiple cultures, and I integrate this perspective to provide care that is respectful, affirming, and responsive to your unique reality.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a compassionate, collaborative approach that honors how hard this journey can be. When my clients are coping with the emotional impact of infertility or obesity recovery, MI provides a safe space to explore grief, frustration, fear, and mixed feelings—without pressure or judgment. Rather than pushing change, MI helps clients reconnect with their own values, build self-trust, and move forward at a pace that feels respectful and sustainable, even in the midst of uncertainty or loss.
