I specialize in integrative individual and couples therapy for the mind and body. My perspective on therapy starts with the central belief that if you listen to your clients, they will tell you what's going on. While that may seem very basic, unfortunately, there is very little listening going on these days. When we are listened to and are unconditionally respected and accepted, we instinctively have the right stuff inside of us to figure out our issues. That's how we become empowered . That's how we grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion, understanding and respect. And I will use the latest evidence-based techniques to support you in your journey Helping you find that inner strength and resolve is what makes me uniquely qualified to help.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will briefly introduce ourselves to each other. From there, we will move on to discussing the issues that brought you into therapy. One thing you need to know about my practice: While I am dedicated to listening, I am also a big believer in action. We can't simply "redo" the same session over and over again. And while I will never "push", I will always make sure that you understand that once an issue is discovered, action must follow. To do otherwise is to just continue resigned to your fate.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I specialize in treatment for ADHD, anxiety, depression, addiction and trauma. As part of my approach, we will delve into family history, childhood experiences and traumas to develop a better sense of how you came to believe what you now accept as "truth." But is it really your "emotional truth"? Is that "truth" holding you back from being the "authentic you"? That's what we will discover! As we build our understanding and acceptance of the "authentic you" , we can begin to formulate a set of goals for areas identified for change to allow for personal growth. That's how we challenge beliefs that do not work and hold us back and not allow us to grow which is so basic and necessary for life. That is how we grow. Helping you find that inner strength and resolve is what makes me uniquely qualified to help.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
When you step into my office, the most powerful tool you’re bringing with you isn't just your story—it’s your personal motivation to see things change. I often tell my clients that while I’m here to help navigate, you’re the one behind the wheel. The "ideal" experience happens when you’re truly ready to take ownership of your growth, showing up with the courage to be honest and vulnerable even when it feels a bit messy. This internal spark is what keeps you going during those weeks when the work feels heavy. When we build that kind of strong therapeutic connection, it creates a safe space where real, lasting transformation can actually take root. To make sure we aren’t just spinning our wheels, I find it’s so helpful when we collaborate on clear goals together. Think of this as our "main objective" or "North Star"; they keep us focused so you don't feel overwhelmed by everything all at once. Whether we’re using SMART goals to tackle specific anxieties or just defining what a "better day" looks like for you, having a roadmap makes the process feel much more manageable. Reaching those small milestones isn't just about "checking a box"—it’s about proving to yourself that you’re capable of change, which builds the confidence you need to keep moving forward.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I view CBT as a collaborative approach to therapy - hand in hand with my client - designed to break the cycle of maladaptive thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We will incorporate key strategies such as Case Formulation to map specific triggers, Cognitive Restructuring to challenge cognitive distortions and Behavioral Activation to replace avoidance with rewarding activities.
Motivational Interviewing
By asking evocative questions and offering sincere affirmations, I help to create an empowering environment that highlights your unique internal strengths. I will also use skillful reflective listening as a "verbal mirror" to help support the growth of your motivation and commitment to change. In doing so, we will together resolve ambivalence and come up with a detailed and pragmatic "road-map" to make the changes that you wish to become.
Narrative
I help you recognize that "you are not the problem; the problem is the problem." By using techniques like externalization, I will help you develop new insights into your challenges. You will begin to see your challenges as "separate entities from yourself" and will in turn reduce self-blame as you open yourself up for change. By deconstructing unhelpful "dominant stories" and identifying "unique outcomes", you will reclaim your sense of control and agency. Ultimately, you will become the "re-author of your life story" into one that aligns with your core values and inherent strengths.

Alex was a great and perceptive listener. He had some great analogies to help me understand the issues I’ve been facing. A great first session and I look forward to the next one.
