About me

Hello and Welcome~ My name is Rachel Baker and I am a licensed clinical social worker and cancer survivor who focuses on helping others to prioritize their mental health. I started my private practice to help others realize that prioritizing their life is a necessity, and not an option. I continue the work because I know that it is transformative once a decision is made to prioritize self.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first visit, you can expect genuine warmth and authenticity as I listen to your unique story. In addition to learning about your presenting needs, I want to learn about what brings you joy, a time when you completed a goal, and what you may expect to gain from therapy? I will work with you to unpack the mental fatigue, build your resilience, and provide techniques that fit your needs and also interests.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a provider is first having a therapeutic relationship with clients that allow them to feel comfortable with being vulnerable and not just transparent. I believe my strengths continue with being able to dig until we find the root causes of one's debilitating symptoms so that we can tell the root stories in order to build back a stronger you.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with clients who are motivated to show up and be themselves in the therapy room. I find my clientele desire to move from a performance-driven to a purpose-driven mindset. These clients display a deep need to unhook from cycles due to trauma, unresolved emotional patterns, employment dissatisfaction, and overall unhealthy lifestyles that are not enhancing their physical, emotional, or psychological health. These clients come in to let their guard down, learn healthy coping strategies, and create a routine that is fueled by intentionality and not urgency.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

As a therapist, my individual counseling approach is rooted in integrative therapy as I believe in the importance of meeting your specific needs based on presenting symptoms and circumstances. Individuals will expect to receive therapy that work best with their lifestyle, goals, symptoms, and unique experiences. Cognitive techniques may help a client manage a tough work day where they feel anxious and need to put some distance between them and their negative thoughts can benefit from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. However, a client who may have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and have low energy throughout the day may benefit from somatic work, mindfulness practices, and psychoeducation to assist with reducing stressors and increase their ability to feel more in control. These are just a couple examples of how I practice as an integrative therapist.

First time I have had a virtual therapy visit. Rachel made it comfortable so I wasn't nervous and after awhile I felt like I was in the room with her. She is the first therapist that has made me feel like it was more of a conversation than a patient - therapist appointment.
