In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is designed to be supportive, comfortable, and paced at a level that feels right for you. We will begin by briefly reviewing confidentiality and the limits of confidentiality to ensure clarity and transparency. The remainder of the session will focus on building rapport and understanding what brings you to therapy. I may ask gentle, open-ended questions to help guide the conversation. If you find it difficult to express your thoughts or concerns, that is completely okay—I will help guide you through the process at a pace that feels manageable for you. We will also explore whether goal setting feels appropriate at this stage. If so, we will collaboratively identify a few initial, realistic goals to begin focusing on between sessions. Overall, the first session is about creating a safe foundation, understanding your needs, and beginning to outline a direction for your therapeutic journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Using a Strengths-Based Approach, individuals are empowered to recognize their abilities, build confidence, and make healthier choices that support personal growth and emotional wellness. Through a holistic approach, clients are supported in addressing not only emotional and mental health concerns, but also the connection between the mind, body, and overall well-being. This approach has helped individuals reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression while also improving aspects of physical health and daily functioning. As your therapist, you will be met with active listening, compassion, reflection, and supportive feedback in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. A key focus of my therapeutic approach is identifying the underlying causes or core issues contributing to present challenges. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), individuals can explore distorted thoughts and unhealthy thinking patterns while learning to replace them with healthier and more productive ways of thinking. By gaining insight and developing practical strategies, meaningful and lasting change can be achieved. In addition, the use of a Solution-Focused Model helps individuals identify strengths, set realistic goals, and create positive change by focusing on solutions rather than remaining stuck in problems. Therapy may also incorporate more than one modality to ensure that the approach used best fits your individual needs, goals, and current life circumstances. Together, we will work toward healing, growth, and overall wellness.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

“I work with individuals who are navigating a variety of life transitions and challenges and are seeking support for emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. My ideal clients include those managing medical conditions that impact mental health and are interested in a holistic mind–body–spirit approach to healing and growth. I also support older adults who are experiencing the changes that come with aging and are seeking meaning, purpose, and continued personal development. In addition, I work with young professionals who are adjusting to career transitions, workplace stress, and finding balance in their personal and professional lives. My practice also serves individuals and families navigating major life adjustments, including military-related life transitions, adoption experiences (adoptees, foster families, and birth parents), and other significant family changes. Common concerns among my clients include anxiety, stress, adjustment challenges, and work–life balance. Overall, I strive to provide a supportive space for those seeking clarity, stability, and growth during times of change.”

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I provide a supportive, collaborative, and client-centered therapeutic experience designed to help you move toward meaningful and lasting change. My approach integrates Strengths-Based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused models to meet you where you are while helping you build the skills and insight needed for growth and healing. Using CBT, we will work together to explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This includes identifying underlying causes of current challenges, recognizing patterns of thinking that may no longer be helpful, and understanding how these patterns influence daily behaviors and emotional responses. From there, we focus on identifying triggers and increasing awareness of how they show up in your life. A key part of this process is developing healthier coping strategies. This may include learning new ways to respond to stress, shifting unhelpful thought patterns, and creating more balanced and realistic ways of thinking. We also explore practical lifestyle changes that support emotional wellness, stability, and overall functioning. In addition to CBT, a Strengths-Based approach helps you recognize your existing abilities, resilience, and internal resources. Together, we build on what is already working while strengthening areas that feel challenging. A Solution-Focused approach supports identifying clear, realistic goals and taking small, meaningful steps toward positive change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and treatment may include one or more modalities depending on your needs and goals. My role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make the changes that are right for you. Together, we will focus on understanding patterns, building insight, and developing practical tools that support long-term emotional wellness and personal growth.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling principles may be utilized for individuals who desire a faith-based approach to counseling. Within a Christian framework, the power of prayer and Scripture may be introduced and applied practically as coping mechanisms for managing stressors.
