My name is Marisa. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health from Rutgers School of Biomedical Science. I provided individual counseling and case management to individuals diagnosed with mental health and substance abuse barriers. As a graduate student, I have launched community-wide outreach events to educate members of the community about Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. This work strengthened my commitment to become an advocate for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. I am deeply committed to my work and this is demonstrated in my ability to connect with my clients. My goal as a clinician is to empower individuals and families while remaining receptive to feedback throughout the therapeutic process. I use a wide collective range of clinical modalities and interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which assists in combating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Passionate that therapy must meet the individual’s needs, I believe that therapy and progress are not linear, and must be tailored to the individual.
