Hello! I am Rosalie, a LMFT that works with individuals, couples, and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions and/or interpersonal challenges. I want to acknowledge how hard it can be to ask for help even when doing well. It is courageous and takes persistence when you deal with mental health and have nothing in your tanks Therapy can feel scary from the outside, but my first priority is helping the client feel comfortable and help with expectations or questions.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session includes a brief intro about therapy, limits of confidentiality, and provides space for any questions you may have. But the focus of the session is for the client to share about what is bringing them to therapy and start to establish the therapeutic relationship. Therapy is most productive when the client feels comfortable and emotional safe with their therapist. It is normal to be nervous and/or not feel like sharing much early on; but by the first couple of sessions, the client should feel like the therapist is a good fit for them and has the potential for that relationship to grow.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a highly sensitive person myself, I have always valued being a safe space for people. It is crucial to go at a pace comfortable for the client and provide a collaborative space where the client feels empowered as a partner in the process.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I utilize ACT throughout our work together. It offers helpful exercises and guided meditations for cognitive defusion and excessive rumintation. The focus is to identify your core values as a way to improve self-esteem, manage anxiety, and help with big life decisions etc.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT since starting in therapy 13 years ago. I can help with distorted thinking and increasing awareness of the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is the backbone of my approach.

Mind-body approach

Our mental health can be conceptualized as top-bottom like CBT where we work on the thoughts to help improve the body, stress etc. Bottom-up is another crucial approach and has been shown to help significantly by improving regulation of your sympathetic nervous system. I use mindfulness, biofeedback, and somatic tools.

Couples Counseling

I frequently work with couples in different stages and challenges in their relationships. I utilize the Gottman approach, help improve active listening and communication, and facilitate a deeper understanding of the other. Each of us has our personal lens shaped by our foundational years and experiences. Even when we are aware of our partner's past, there are often misunderstandings and conflict related to the different frameworks. These are not dealbreakers, but need to be identified in order to help the couple thrive.

Humanistic

The humanistic approach is another backbone of my work. I believe the therapeutic relationship needs to be emotionally safe and comfortable for the client to be successful in their work. It is a collaboration between you and I. I provide unconditional positive regard, unlimited support and absolutely no judgement. I try to lead with compassion in order to help solifidy that safe space for the client.
