My journey in this field began with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a minor in Psychology from Thiel College, and an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Germanna Community College. I later earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. In my pursuit of excellence, I became a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist and obtained certification in Suicidology. Over time, my clinical focus has naturally evolved towards specializing in personality disorders and becoming a certified sex and relationship therapist. Known for my transparency, empathy, and a healthy dose of humor, I strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and supported. I also enjoy sharing my insights as a contributing author on sex and relationship issues for various online and print publications. Passionate about the importance of self-care, I love to unwind by hiking and camping in the mountains, soaking up the serenity of the ocean, and cherishing time with my family and friends. Despite having three amazing kids, I am (almost) equally obsessed with being a pet mom to my heavyweight feline companion, Perry, and my loveable, always-happy golden retriever, Murphy.

My name is Vanessa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida, Missouri, New Hampshire & New Mexico and South Carolina. I am bilingual(English & Spanish) and can provide counseling in both languages. My clinical background in Mental Health began as an undergrad and continued through grad school, working for the public sector for the Department of Children & Families where I worked with children, then the elderly in skilled nursing facilities and with adolescents in group homes. I then went on to work as a Nurse Navigator and provided services that included counseling and advocacy for oncology patients at one of the largest cancer hospitals in South Florida. In addition to this, I have also worked with adults in inpatient rehab for substance abuse and court ordered treatment, and served outpatient clients in the LGBTQ community. My training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Solution Focused, and many others that include treatment planning; where my goal is to get my client back to a normal baseline that they are comfortable with and can function in their daily life. I am an open minded, kindhearted and empathetic individual, where my mantra is that I am here for YOU, my job is to assist you in anyway that I can, and help you manage life's daily stressors that may be recent or long-term. We all have good and bad days, I believe we are all one step away from a mental health crisis. Life is one big roller coaster of stress, worry, emotion that all revolve around something changing in our life that we were not prepared for and do not know how to adjust to it. So my job is to help you navigate all of that and achieve happiness, peace and overall well being.

I am joining Grow Therapy coming from Mainspring Recovery, where I had been serving as the Clinical Supervisor. I have 15 years of experience in behavioral health, with a concentrated focus on mental health and substance abuse. My extensive experience in dealing with and treating substance abuse has placed her at the frontlines of mental health care. My career has been marked by clinical leadership positions, including roles as a Team Lead providing clinical supervision to behavioral health practitioners and as a highly sought-after mental health consultant and advisor. My leadership and expertise have been instrumental in improving the quality of care in various settings. I hold both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Central Missouri. Additionally, I possess numerous certificates and training in mental health, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia, Maryland, and Missouri.
