A client comes in to see her therapist and is 10 minutes late. She sits down and apologizes for her tardiness, to which the therapist replies that no apologies are necessary as clients are only late for their first session. The vignette illustrates something that I see in clients repeatedly who come into my office. Many should have come in at least a year or two ago but for some reason think that the problems they experience are still manageable. While I admire the will of many of those who still manage life like the proverbial Dutch Boy and the dike, I believe that asking for help is a strength of its own. In therapy, I come from the perspective of someone that had to receive help at various times in my life. I've also had a meandering career path, meaning that I've worked in several fields and industries prior to becoming a therapist and have been able to do ground-level empathizing with people who work in blue and white-collar professions.

Welcome! I am Kimberly. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 13 years of experience providing therapy. Many of us desire a sense of peace, connection, and well-being within ourselves and in our life. Yet life circumstances and even parts of ourselves can prevent us from having these experiences in our day to day lives. Providing a safe and non-judgmental place to explore your struggles and emotional pain is essential to my practice. I feel grateful to be able to support those who desire to grow and heal.

Welcome to the first step in finding YOUR therapist! You've taken the first step by visiting one of the numerous providers for accessible treatment, and you've stumbled upon my profile. Well, lets get started! My name is Mysia and I am a professional counselor in Maryland. I have experience working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with implementing healthy coping skills, overcoming the highs and lows of mood disorders, and navigating life on life's terms. Sometimes, we just need someone to talk us through it and help us reflect on what is going on. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the strongest part of therapy and building trust and rapport help build the comfort and confidence to explore some pretty sensitive (and uncomfortable) topics. Together, we will explore thought and behavior patterns, coping skills, self-soothing and self-care rituals. We can build a vision of the person you are working to become, and help that person actualize. Welcome to the first step, it is now time to prepare for your journey!

First I want to acknowledge your effort to get help for your issues. You may be struggling with relationships, depression from a loss, anxiety about your future, memories of a terrible incident in the past, or an abusive childhood. Whatever it is that is getting in the way of your current life and your goals for the future, when you have the courage to work through these seemingly impossible challenges, you will find hope and your life will get better. I'm here to walk with you on this creative journey, your path to healing and wholeness. As an expressive arts therapist with degrees in Pastoral Counseling and Early Childhood/Special Education, I bring my experience working with children and families, counseling those with mental health challenges who combat racism and poverty, and accompanying people struggling with recovery or a trauma history. In addition to verbal therapy, I use the expressive arts and psychodrama techniques to dig more deeply into troublesome issues with an underlying strengths-based approach.
