As the world has grown smaller with access to so much instant information, children and families are feeling overwhelmed. As families are trying to cope from this place of overwhelm, their relationships and connections are suffering. Childhood trauma can also play a major part in the way we shape our families. Recognizing and understanding generational trauma is one of the first steps in creating your family differently. Sometimes even adults need help to help their children. I have 35 years of experience helping children and families cope with all that life can throw at them. I understand life is complicated and rarely easy. I will offer a safe place to learn about yourself from a strength-based perspective. I have worked with people of all ages from children to older adults. I have worked with people with ADHD, depression, anxiety, school-related issues, divorce, and improving family relationships. I must say I am straightforward and direct. I rarely believe that a child's problem is just the child's problem. The child's problem is a family problem and parents are responsible for their children.

My education includes a PhD in Religious Philosophy, a Master of Divinity, and Master of Science in Psychology, and I am working on a PhD in Psychology. Although my schooling may sound impressive, I credit most of my ability in working the field is due to my upbringing and a legitimate concern for people. I also have a background in chemical dependency treatment. Regarding mental health treatment, there is no greater joy than working with my veterans. I realize that trauma is not purely a veteran or first responder issue. Trauma changes our outlook on life. As we deal with the source and effect of the trauma, regardless of the age and time when they occured, we can find resolution. I have been a counselor for more than 30 years and have honed skills that are often missing in many new therapists. My main focus has been working with veterans and their issues. PTSD, depression, anxiety, survivor's guilt and combat related issues are issues I have dealt with for many years. I understand PTSD because I live with PTSD and understand.

Hello, I'm Dr. Walters, a licensed Clinical Psychologist. Ready to make some changes? Let's work together to get you on the path to managing mental health concerns, and recovery from substance use disorders. Over the past 26 years I've helped folks - probably much like yourself - develop the skills to get sober and maintain recovery from drugs and alcohol and manage co-occurring mental health concerns. I've had the opportunity to assist adults of all ages, races, cultures, religious/spiritual backgrounds, and many within the LBTQ+ community to create the foundation needed to manage their mental health and finally stop using drugs and alcohol. Are you concerned mental health symptoms such as depression or anxiety contribute to your substance use? It's quite common. We can talk about that as well and discuss strategies to help you manage symptoms and heal. If substance use is not a concern, but you are looking for help with anxiety, depression, or trauma- I can help get you on the path to being balanced and healthy. I look forward to meeting you.

I have worked with teenagers and young children for over 10 years. I specialize in working with children with trauma, anxiety, and depression. I worked in various daycare facilities as well as having my own in-home daycare and decided I wanted to help kids (and adults) in a more in-depth manner. That is when I began my journey into social work and found my true calling in life. Life can be so challenging, and sometimes we can seem to lose our way – getting lost in the spinning, the confusion, the uncertainty. Emotions can feel like they spiral or swing so rapidly that it can feel difficult to find stable ground, let alone direction for our lives. Maybe you have experienced this – that shift between anxiety & depression & irritability – that sense of feeling lost or struggling to see a way forward in your life. Working with adults and seniors over the past 15 years, in inpatient settings, intensive outpatient treatment, and individual therapy, I am an empathetic ear and a believer that growth and change are always possible, no matter how lost we may feel.

Hello, My name is David Decker. I have worked therapist for 18 years; with an LCSW for 12 years. I also have an addiitonal 9 years in the mental health field prior to obtaining my MSW. During this time, I have provided support to persons to assist them in improving the way they view themselves, their lives and the challenges they face. This has included assisting them navigate decisions, changes and transitions within their lives, improving relationships with family members, coworkers, etc. I see my role as someone to assist you in improving your life, celebrating your "wins", seeking to find ways of adjusting to changes as they occur and exploring options to make improvements in your life. I love helping others find the positive areas in their lives on which they can build a better, more productive, comfortable and supportive environment for themselves and those close to them. I genuinely love helping others!! This assistance has included assisting in building and implementing plans to cope with Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, and adjustment disorders. In addition, I have extensive professional experience supporting those with cognitive disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and alcohol/drug use disorders. This has included assisting them in advocating for their needs to be met across environments, learning more effective communication skills, implementing these strategies and helping them find other community resources to further support them. Throughout these processes, I have utilized a variety of modalities, dependent upon the individual needs of those to which I am providing assistance. As a Clinician, I think it is ultimately important to work collaboratively with the client to develop their own plans for moving forward, build on strengths and help them in targeting their most important concerns first.

I have been working with families and teens in crisis for over 40 years and now though semi-retired I choose to use my skills to reach out through online therapy to support others. I come from a unique perspective that life is one of balance or imbalance. Balance is needed in our physical, emotional and spiritual lives and when out of balance life is just not right, we know it and sense it. Three main areas of imbalance are areas of power, perspective and pain. If you are powerless, your reality is off and can't think with clarity, if filtered through trauma one is left not knowing which area to begin "fixing things" and one feels overwhelmed not knowing how to grow or change. When balance is returned, trauma is on the road to healing, the mind is clear and empowerment comes, life is good and peace returns. I count myself a "theological therapist" or a "therapeutic theologian" as some things have to go deep to the soul level to heal and sometimes we need to realize some of our greatest pain comes from our greatest growth and it comes not from figuring things out at the head level, nor standing up for ourselves in an instant but from doing the deep soul work that leaves one finding joy again and resting in a peace that passes all understanding. I learned much of life and therapy on the front porches of the little town I was raised in and the little church on the corner that helped raise me. Of interest, I live on a mountain in South Carolina with my wife and four dogs. Licensed in Indiana since 1993.
