I understand life can be stressful. We all struggle at times and need someone to help us through. In my work with clients and families, I firmly believe in building on the strengths and resilience you already possess to help you get through more difficult moments. My attitude and approach to treatment is that while we all have our struggles, every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow as a person.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My goal for the first couple of sessions is to ease you into the process and develop a sense of connection and trust between us. I usually have questions about why you are reaching out for support, what your goals for our work together, and who you are as a person.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I approach counseling as an opportunity. My goal is to help you improve communication, heal past hurts, understand yourself, and work through challenging times to find happier, healthier connections. I am trained in a variety of treatment methods and tailor my approach to each clients unique needs. Some of the approaches I draw from include strengths based, person centered, positive psychology, trauma focused, family/marital, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, emotionally focused therapy, Gottman method, narrative therapy.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal clients are individuals or adult family members, such as couples, siblings, parents, or entire family units. I am affirming of and trained on LGBTQ+ and polyamory issues, and whatever alternative lifestyles you may identify with. You can let your “freak flag” fly with me! I have a passion for working with those who take care of others, such as family caregivers, healthcare workers, first responders, teachers, other therapists, etc. After many years working in nursing homes and hospice, I am uniquely capable of helping individuals and families navigate aging/end-of-life issues, and have been a Certified Dementia Practitioner.
