She earned a Doctorate of Education and Masters Degrees in both Educational Counseling and Counseling Psychology-Marriage and Family Therapy. Tanea holds membership in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) as a Clinical Fellow and is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She also holds membership in the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (ASSECT) and is currently working toward certification in Sex Therapy. In her free time, Tanea enjoys astrology and the Tarot, traveling, listening to old school Hip-Hop, and playing with her grandchildren. Her favorite trip to date was a week she spent in Cuba.

I contract as an on-call crisis clinician serving those struggling with crisis issues including both homicidal and suicidal emergencies for the past 5 years. A further contract with various County Jails to address mental health and adjustment issues, offering therapy for detainees. Practice of 7+ years working with adults with various cognitive abilities to meet their individual goals. Additionally, 10 years’ experience with Dual Diagnosed adults with social and intellectual disabilities. I use an Eclectic, Existential approach to counseling drawing from the top theories and allowing for a very personal experience. Some theories pulled from include Person Centered, CBT and Realistic Therapy. I provide a therapeutic setting supporting progress toward treatment goals, personal growth, and positive change.
