Hi. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I want perspective clients to know I genuinely care about the people I work with, and have a passion for joining people on their journey to a new self. The fact that you are searching for a therapist shows you would like something to change. This is very brave. We often lose perspective about situations and how we deal with them. This can be a result of things we have buried from our past, or relationships that did not support us in the way we need. I will give you a safe and supportive place to look at your unwelcome patterns and find a way to make your journey more fulfilling. My counseling focus is on adolescents and adults. My philosophy is client-centered, Mindfulness based, trauma informed, and goal oriented. I have training and experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness. My areas of focus include trauma, attachment issues, difficulties with distress tolerance and emotional regulation, along with families dealing with Alzheimer's. Your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are what make you who you are. As we work together to understand these parts of you, we will find a way to alter those thoughts that no longer work for you and strengthen those that are helping you become who you wish to be.

My education includes a PhD in Religious Philosophy, a Master of Divinity, and Master of Science in Psychology, and I am working on a PhD in Psychology. Although my schooling may sound impressive, I credit most of my ability in working the field is due to my upbringing and a legitimate concern for people. I also have a background in chemical dependency treatment. Regarding mental health treatment, there is no greater joy than working with my veterans. I realize that trauma is not purely a veteran or first responder issue. Trauma changes our outlook on life. As we deal with the source and effect of the trauma, regardless of the age and time when they occured, we can find resolution. I have been a counselor for more than 30 years and have honed skills that are often missing in many new therapists. My main focus has been working with veterans and their issues. PTSD, depression, anxiety, survivor's guilt and combat related issues are issues I have dealt with for many years. I understand PTSD because I live with PTSD and understand.

Hi there, I'm glad you're here. I can only imagine how many anxious thoughts you've had to move past just to get to this point. All of the words to how you feel, jumbled up into a noisy ball in your mind. People talk about self-care, and you've tried your best to practice this, but yet the stress and confusion about what to do next to change how you feel remains. You've come to the conclusion that what you've been doing is not getting you closer to where you want to be, so you want to try something different. I'm here to tell you that you're in the right place. I work with independent, high-functioning individuals who are looking for direction, clarity, and peace of mind. Whether you're dealing with workplace stress, relationship or family issues, or adjusting to life’s transitions, anxiety and depression do not have to run your life. In our work together, I will provide a safe space for you to get in touch with your strengths and empower you to grow as an individual. I'm looking forward to meeting with you!

Carl Jung once said, "One day You will grow up and the world will ask you who You are. If You don't know who you are, the world will quickly tell You." I believe the active choices we make, play a crucial role in shaping our sense of personal satisfaction, emotional confidence, and overall well-being. Changing the story, you tell about yourself, can have a profound impact on how difficult or easy the next few years of your life will be. Will Your story be one of courage, conviction and personal empowerment, or a repetitive tale of powerlessness? Will it be a story of accountability and healing, or shame? You are the only with the power to decide you matter. Empower Your voice. Redesign and refine...Choose freedom.

Navigating through the journey of life we inevitably run into hindrances that challenge our momentum. Change is hard and can often be sudden and unpredictable, leaving us without the proper tools to cope with these changes. We have to learn to acclimate to our surroundings on our terms. Whether it's a traumatic response, addiction, grief and loss, anxiety, loss of confidence, feeling lost and overwhelmed, feelings of depression or stagnation, there's hope. It takes courage to look into a mirror and see who's looking back, it takes strength to want to make a change and hope to inspire change. My goal is to inspire Hope. To inspire people to look inward and see what is there, what already exists. I want to see people believe in themselves. My goal is to assist people in regaining a strong and confident sense of self.

I place a high value on authenticity, empathy, and self-awareness, both for myself and my clients as individuals, but also as a critical part of the therapeutic process (I also take advantage of the healing power of laughter whenever possible!). I aim to normalize and validate my clients’ experiences without judgment, and above all, to provide the most basic of human needs: to feel seen and heard. Hi! My name is Stephanie (Stephanie or Stevie is fine) and I have been providing therapy in NJ exclusively via telehealth for about the last 4 years (prior to that, in person). If you have been struggling with symptoms of depression or anxiety, particularly if they are related to a traumatic experience, I would love the opportunity to work with you to reduce your mood- or anxiety-related symptoms, and to help you to experience a present that is not overshadowed or negatively impacted by situations and events from your past. I love working with women ages 20 to 30-something who are still in academia or just starting out in their careers, but also love working with women of any age. I frequently work with survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as those struggling with issues related to self-esteem/self-worth, but have treated clients with many different conditions, the most common of which are listed below. *My practice is focused primarily on treating adults who identify as female as well as being a welcoming space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I do not currently treat cisgender heterosexual males, children or adolescents. I feel that clients shouldn't have to be in therapy forever! While co-creating this process with you, I strive to balance my active listening with imparting active, hands-on techniques to help you reclaim your narrative and overcome obstacles in your path. I feel it's about more water rather than less soda, so to speak, and take both a clinical and holistic approach to helping you enhance alignment and experience deeper fulfillment in your journey. Along with my LCSW, I am trained in EMDR, certified in Theta Healing, Reiki, Transformational Life Coaching, and Therapeutic Touch, and Master Practitioner certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, and Time Line Therapy. I feel I provide a safe space where shame and judgements are left at the door, and we will explore your wants, needs, and feelings with curiosity and compassion. I feel it's very much a co-created process, as you know more about you than I ever will. The work is also far more about our uncovering your truth than you adopting mine. With that said, I have a wide array of modalities and approaches I feel I have quite dialed in, and we can collaboratively determine which tools and approaches best suit your needs. My hope is that our work together will help you feel not only hear and validated, but also empowered and aware of how to eat the elephant on your own going forward. I see this work as us walking side by side, with you gradually taking the lead with me supportively in your corner. If you have something pressing you wish to discuss in session, that will always take precedence. My job is ultimately to actively listen and hold space. With that said, if that's all I was doing, you'd inevitably say, "Robby, you're a nice guy. But I don't know how much we're actually getting done." To that end, I feel it's far more important to determine HOW you think rather than WHAT you think. So it tends to be important for us to explore unconscious limiting beliefs and emotions along with the conscious. You can also expect to learn clear and concise action steps (ranging from mindfulness exercises to creative writing prompts to holistic practices like meditation and breathwork) to help you regulate your emotions and reclaim your narrative. I feel that many people are hesitant to engage in therapy because they perceive a stigma tied to seeking support. After all, the notion of "mentally ill" does have a negative connotation. The way I see it, though the process is not about fixing a broken thing, but rather enhancing one's alignment and fulfillment (and okay, yes, also confronting obstacles to those pieces). But if the focus is on "Where am I trying to get to and how will I know that I got there?" where our work is to simply close the gap between here and there, it can help us leave shame and judgements at the door, and perhaps even enable you to look forward to increased awareness and empowerment in your journey forward.

Finding a counselor you can establish a rapport with, and become vulnerable with can be anxiety causing enough. Being open to the therapeutic process and understanding that things may get worse before they get better when implementing meaningful change, is a risk. That is part of the journey. I have been in the counseling field for over 15 years, after serving in the military. I worked as a school counselor and college counselor. I have worked with children and families but mostly on active duty and veterans. I specialize in co-occurring disorders, trained in EMDR and Prolonged exposure evidence-based treatment for PTSD. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, School Counselor certified in Texas, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington state. I speak Spanish.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Arizona and Indiana. I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary. I have had the opportunity to work in and gain knowledge from a diverse collection of settings that include elementary, middle and high school, hospital chaplaincy department, private practice and private agencies working with families in the child welfare system. Each of these settings has provided me with hands-on experience working with individuals and families in crisis, as well as those who are faced with navigating some of life’s challenges such as divorce, loss, and addiction. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I love a systems approach, understanding that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather are part of larger systems. I take a non-judgmental, warm approach to therapy and I believe in tailoring my therapy towards my client's individual needs. Together we will establish goals and design a path towards a healthier way of being. I draw from a multitude of therapeutic techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy. Clients who work with me have a desire to change. Whether facing everyday challenges that are holding them back from living a fulfilling life or struggling with family dynamics that have caused distress or trying to navigate through grief, my clients can learn to use their insight to find new ways of functioning that better serve what they want from this life. My clients can see a future for themselves that brings peace, happiness and healing. The first step towards seeking help is often the most difficult. I am excited that you are here and look forward to taking this journey alongside you.

I view my work as a therapist through a multicultural lens, and I customize my approach depending on the unique needs of every individual I work with. Many people have told me they’ve been frustrated by therapists in the past who sat quietly and provided very little feedback. In response, I’ve developed a forthright, solutions-oriented style of engaging with my clients that encourages them to set goals for themselves and empowers them to work toward them. I also have experience working with clients who prefer a softer, less structured approach, so I can customize the therapy experience to each person.

My name is Trina McDonald and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have certification as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I have experience working with various populations through my employment with Social Services, The Division of Prisons, Camp Lejeune Military Base, Outpatient Treatment Facilities, and as a State Certified HIV Case Manager. I work in partnership with the client to impact change using an eclectic approach foundationally based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My interests include reading, meeting new people, traveling, and watching television the 70's, 80's and 90's. I My favorite quote comes from Mark Twain who wrote, "There are two important days in your life; the day you were born and the day you find out why." This quote I believe in as I feel it speaks to purpose and being born on purpose and not by mistake. I work with a client to build a therapeutic rapport as I feel this to be essential to making therapeutic gains. I embrace the elements of unconditional positive regard, being authentic and genuine, and empathy to help build that therapeutic rapport with a client. I consider listening, patience, acceptance, and honest communication, and observing healthy boundaries as my greater strengths. I look forward to working each potential client in navigating through challenges to obtain mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social well-being.

I understand that sometimes life can be challenging and can hinder personal growth, happiness, relationships, quality of life, professional success, parenting among other things. You feel like you are spinning your wheels but not going anywhere. You feel exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, apathetic, sad and/or irritated. You may be surprised to know that there are ways to cope with these feelings so you can grab the reigns and get back on that horse! You want to create meaningful changes but aren’t sure where to start. I believe that the catalyst to that change exists within each of us, sometimes we need a little help to find it. I have experience working with older adults, adults, (teens 17+), veterans, active-duty military and their families, college students, EMS personnel, and caregivers in the treatment of mental health and life transition issues, marital issues, interpersonal issues, deployment, military separation, reunification, divorce, pregnancy, work and school issues, parenting and end of life issues (grief/placement). I can also provide case-management services, life coaching and ESA evaluations/letters.
